Is there a trick/something I've been doing wrong with hair mods? I stopped using all of them barring vanilla retexture because procedurally generated ideologions all seem to mix up which gender the hairstyles are for. Imperial hussars in cataphract armor are the Sardaukar equivalent but you can still kill them with your totally-not-fremen colonists.

It's more like "make sure nothing specifically where your guys are standing is flammable", since fire is really great for crowd control and even saves you the trouble of cleaning the bodies. I remember one of those 40k mods added a completely fucking busted flamer that ate set a huge area on fire every 1.5 seconds or something and raids couldn't do shit when funneled in front of it.

And yeah, you can strategically use cover to trick enemies into traps or just into wasting time. If you've got mud or shallow water you can build around, putting some random sandbags in there can make enemies slowly wade into oncoming fire instead of stopping to shoot you.

It's fun to start from animal a few times. After that I skip animal stage unless I feel like doing it again. It creates a fun change of pace; being a hunter gatherer, possibly caravanning to other tiles to get food. Living in tents before you get wood structures, etc.
Some of the balancing feels a little strange, like the scenario spawning a wildman on day 1 you can't tame until you learn to tame animals.
I've changed some things around myself with rimmsQOL, like moving Pila and Ikwa out of Smithing neolithic options. I have a mod that adds copper and tin have it as an option to use before smithing iron and steel with MO in medieval

bugs are on my perma disable list due to their proclivity for spawning directly under my nuclear/fusion reactor or workshop or mech bay and instantly destroying every expensive building in it and killing all my work mechs
i also disable diseases because they're boring and do nothing but waste medicine so long as you have someone with 5 or higher medical and costs ~10-20 tps, i do however put infection chance to 500%

There's not many ultratech melee stuff on the workshop it seems, ones I used before were the Mono Weapons Pack and other packs from that modder (uses VEF, I'm sorry anon who made the mods), and they're pretty good, Edge of Descension - Monoblades is pretty cool if not a bit too flashy, Neo Samurai are mostly melee weapons and are somewhat heavier versions of vanilla monoblades. Ironically most of them are weaker than medieval melee weapons made with modded metals, so I often end up using those instead
I'd recommend getting a handheld shield mod too but I didn't like any of them visually so I've never used any

Good thing about gravships is that you can rebuild your ship any time and as many times your want.
It's not like your mountain base where you can't undig shit back to the natural stone (without some devmods + refog hacks but it will still be your faction's stone, not natural one).
With your ship, anything can be undone, so it's impossible to fuck up.

All you need is some general idea like flying dick, flying buttplag, flying killbox, actual pirate ship with solar panels instead of sails or SOS2 mechanoid sphere.
Then you need to draw it under your ship platform limit and fill it with what you want.
