Current index cable getting sparks after a 1 1/2-2years since getting this then-new cable. anyone have experience with tundra lab's replacements? Are they as good as Valves? Too many of the others have huge feminine eyes. Like, I like Noa, but its face looks like a transman 1 year on T. Same for most of the others here too.

the nose is awkward looking like the face can't decide on what style of shading should be textured on.
the eyes are small and shaped in a way that almost works, but they're just a bit too rounded, and I don't think the eyelashes being shaped like they have mascara is helping either.
There's too much open forehead space. The reason anime girl avatars have large foreheads is to make them look younger and cuter, but for something like this it just ages it down too much to read as a workaholic adult.
The mouth is about right, sometimes people give male avatars small little mouths that don't look very wide, but this one looks right for a male model.
The hair style is also a bit more shonnen protagonist than you probably intend it to be, and I'm also just not a fan of the material settings you have on it.

also the scarf's normals and texture looks pretty bad for how chunky the mesh looks.

Unless you want to do heavy amounts of Blender and Unity work, it's actually very easy because only like 3 bases have any significant amount of support. You can headchop, obviously, since hair is trivial to get looking decent, but for the base itself, your options are basically non-existent if you want a man and not a boy.

In the pic of the avatar, do you see the weird blue/grayish lit bits along some edges like a directional rimlight or something? That needs to go away.
The biggest difference between your pic and this ref of the character is the shape of the eyes and eyelashes. You really need to square off the eye shape. Do you see how curved the avatar's eyes are, both the upper eyelid and the lower eyelid? Do you see how flat the lines look for the character's eyes in contrast?
assuming this is the same guy, even in other expressions you can see his eyes don't get round like the avatar's eyes are.
Also I know it's a common thing in booth to have the corners of the eyelashes fade into a color closer to the skin tone, but it softens the face too much here.
This is why I like Anri for a male base, it has simple and flat eyelashes and there's no weird skin fade to soften them.

Because the target is a more detailed version of anime kyon. Anime is an abstraction of reality. Illustration works can have more detail while still having the soul of the abstraction of anime. Albeit I do understand it’s harder to do but I do believe it’s worth it specially for VR avatars where we literally go close up to faces and eyes all the time

VR is a different reality. In it we have a very different baseline normal for how things look and what stands out and in what ways. Just because something looks more realistic to the real world doesn't mean it looks more realistic in VR surrounded by booth anime girl avatars. It's more uncanny than anything else.
If any anime character might get the right vibes from those eyes you're using, it's Mori from OHSHC. Kyon on the other hand just doesn't have the same vibe.
By your reasoning, is the end game of avatars just a perfect photoscan of a cosplayer? It's more detailed after all.

If you want Kyon but more detailed, then make Kyon in the style of a typical modern booth avatar. Booth avatars these days are already more detailed than anime.
Also forgive me for going on too long at this, but I also want to say that details only look good when in support of the broader whole. If someone were to lose the big picture, pour hours of work into making many parts of a thing have lots of details, it doesn't matter if any of those details might look good in isolation. What matters is the whole, and the type of autistic hyperfocus that leads to being so detail focused that the big picture slips away basically always results in something really uncanny and bad.

I miss when you could just grab an MMD off bowlroll and be on par with everyone else's models. Spending hours obsessing over accessories and shader settings is just completely un fun for me.

My take is that booth outfits tend to be overly complicated because that's what sells, and if you'll open it rather than keeping it close, you get to put extra stuff on the layer below/shoulders/chest/neck. Also, no doubts exposed armpits bring in extra value.

Upgraded from generation one Oculus Rift to Quest 3 a couple days ago. It is genuinely baffling to me how far we've come. I didn't realize tech advanced that far. How the fuck can I leave a window somewhere in my house and come back later to find it still hovering where I left it? That blows my mind.

Also, the visuals are much more crisp. I really appreciate it. Makes watching videos with people in VRChat much more enjoyable. I've yet to try games like Blade & Sorcery and other things with it yet, but I will come fall/winter.

at this point it's kind of like asking "are videogames fun?" or "is the internet fun?". At its very basics, VRChat is a convenient way to view scenes built in the unity game engine, and scenes can be anything from static assets (like all the gaussian splats recently) to short music videos (which tend to be called "particle live" or "VRMV"), virtual conventions like vket, all the way to interactive full games. And you can view/play all of this fully solo, or with a few friends, all the way to the public unwashed mashes. The multiplayer aspect is course is its own form of entertainment if you're into that sort of thing, but you don't have to be.

It's got it problems (a unity scene viewer that requires EAC, multiplayer games with 500 milliseconds of latency, incredibly bad search functionality), but overall yes, it's fun, even (especially perhaps) if you completely avoid the mirror dwelling screaming kids.

So yeah, in-game mute is broken. I kept trying to unmute and it kept re-muting itself. Standalone so toggling system mic didn't help.

Did SpaceCalibrator make an update? I use a unicorn tracker on continuous tracking and there is a clear difference when I use the the unicorn tracker with the hide tracker function vs when i manually calibrate with the figure 8s
when i use the cont callibration with a unicorn, my in game head doesn't track properly on my avatar. for example, when i look 90 degrees to my left while keeping my body straight, my avatar looks like its looking 45 degrees to the left, about half the distance
same with rotating my head to the left while looking straight, 90 degrees sideways makes it 45 degrees in game
when i switch to head lock mode (i usually use hip lock), the avatar will barely turn or rotate side to side at all, let alone half the distance

The minecraft itch hasn't returned to me yet. If you do want to run a server though, all the autism I spent setting up the dungeon crawler pack should make it relatively easy to do. The docker image will download and configure shit for you, instead of having to collect all the jars yourself.

Setting aside the 4chan elitism, you can take a gamble on either the Great Pug or any age gated instance and normally do well. The Pug is PC only so you filter out Questies which is the majority of screaming children and as a result, the people who go there tend to be just wanting a chill social experience, though you still get the occasional le epig troll on Desktop. Age gated instances work pretty much the same way, except even better because you have to have spent 5 bucks on VRC+ which means you probably don't want to get banned, and despite age gating, normally it's not any worse about sexual stuff then going out to the bar IRL where some people are trying to pick up anything that sounds feminine but most are just looking to hang out and bullshit.

Would people be interested in something like a Pub Crawl, where we start in one public instance, and then go for the next, all while we may or may not get intoxicated with alcohol?
I did this a couple of times and I think it is really fun. Kind of like an exploration. But instead of worlds, we look at social situations.

You have to play public matches to unlock weapons but there are gamemodes with everything unlocked or random loadouts. It's relatively fast grind.

I don't like the progression in the MW2 mod. I don't think that's true. They may do 100+ damage on a headshot, but at long range the damage falls off to less than 100. It's evident on the Afghanistan and North Korea maps we played where it's practically impossible to get assault rifle kills across the map. It's not like Pavlov where any damage to the head automatically kills if there's not a helmet.

Is there a setting you can fuck up on Poiyomi that will make light volumes not work? I'm using a 9.2.x release which says there's no need to toggle it on or anything, but it's not working afaik.
