I played Shadoba during a time where dragon had a very good (tier 1?) face dragon deck that had ramp because ramp cards back then didn't destroy your tempo.

The core concept of the set was "Neutrals Matter". This meant that the core of the set was a very strong, heavily pushed neutral package, while all the crafts just got their own neutral-synergy cards.
The result was that every single deck on the ladder, regardless of craft, ran 70% identical cards from the same busted neutral package, and 30% their craft's neutral synergy cards.
And it turns out blood got the best neutral synergy cards, so it was tier -50 and absolutely dominated everything else. It was pretty much impossible to win against neutral blood as any other deck in the game - they would reliably kill you on turn 6 in a game where that was previously almost never possible.

Neutral Blood arguably edges out worse than TeleDAD or Dragon Ruler:

More degenerate mirror rate (90–95%) than any YGO meta ever recorded.

No sideboarding or hand traps in Shadowverse, so comeback potential was basically zero.

Digital format enabled fast, brutal ladder games, making it feel more repetitive and exhausting.

**Took emergency nerfs to 7 cards, whereas even Dragon Ruler got by with fewer initial hits.

Meanwhile, even in YGO’s worst Tier 0 metas, there was some room for rogue decks (e.g., Evilswarm vs Dragon Ruler, Lightsworn vs TeleDAD), and hand traps like Maxx "C" or Effect Veiler gave you some chance to fight back.
