Start by recommending basic quality of life improvements like

Both extremelly long and extremelly short matches are undesirable. A more consistent match that lasts AT THE MINIMUM 15 minutes and maybe 30 to 50 minutes tops is more desirable

valve initially made their own servers juts because of the huge influx of new players during F2P update afaik, but a huge offer of valve servers in any capacity will always undermine the vanilla community servers, they did even before MyM

At the end of the day, companies are always willing to bring a more controlled environment, and casual makes sure new players arent encountering wierd ass mods, surf maps, x100 servers, etc, accidentally, without realizing these arent the core game. A player that sticks around is a potential customer in any F2P game, and the community browser always had a chance of confusing new players and putting them into modded matches, giving them a bad or confusing experience

My wishlist to improve the TF2 ecosystem in general would be
>Making casual queue people into vanilla community servers that act properly
>Making the server browser actually work, punishing or outright blacklisting bad actors that fake ping, that redirect players, that fake player counts, etc
>Make the server browser somehow do ping properly to avoid fake ping exploits that servers do

It does, but it should be noted that quick play originally filtered to BOTH Valve and Community servers. It became untenable. Maybe they could've come up with a more elegant solution, but they did come up with a pretty good compromise, which was to default to Valve servers with the option to add community servers.
Quickplay otherwise did you EVERYTHING you just requested. The vanilla experience, nothing more, nothing less. It even taught you how to use the server browser!

The casual queue is broken and it needs to be dealt with at the root. Match making fundamentally doesn't work when your game can see a given player's skill change midgame.

I think what bothers me most about these new cosmetics is that they're all missed opportunities.

This Disco Elysium set is a prime example.
The hair looks good, we do already have the wild west whiskers but that's technically a face cosmetic not a hat, and there's a style with no beard for this cosmetic.
Although it's still a ham-fisted reference, a "pocket alcohol bottle" would be pretty fitting, maybe with different styles for different drinks, like a vodka style, xXx style, etc.
You could then mix that with one of Heavy's more classy shirt cosmetics to make a GOOD LOOKING reference loadout, while also fitting with the game.
These cosmetics don't just look like SHIT, they remove choice by being too much.
These pants look awful, and you can't use them without the shirt or they look terribly out of place.
But the set looks like shit.
It's far too cartoony.

This is a problem a lot of new cosmetics have.

I think it only works when the Spy is on a team with a Vaccinator Medic, because that was the case the first time I noticed it.
Have an enemy Spy disguise on a team with a vaccinator Medic. The resistance indicator should appear above the Spy's head. As of the 2025 summer update, you can grief friendly Spies by simply equipping the vaccinator and it will give away their position. That's basically what happens already. Ranking doesn't work when your skill level can change to 9 different values! It only works if you have a consistent skill level. The only way for THAT to work properly is if you were forced into one class for the entire game and is predetermined BEFORE entering the queue. That's not an enjoyable experience.

I have 300 hours in Engineer and 50 hours in Spy, and a combined accumulation of 9 hours in other classes.
I'm very good at what I do with engineer, so long as my team can buy me time to faff around, but I'm useless in other classes. This would still average me to 40 hours. It won't work.

(My steam stats are broken by the ways, they haven't updated for 8 fucking years when I only had about 58 hours in the game, and my MMR still wont budge from when it was first introduced. I don't want it fixed since I play community when I do play, I just find it hilarious.)

The main complaint I hear is that matches are unbalanced, leading to steamrolls. The solution to that is to have some means of balancing teams and arranging lobbies of players most likely to provide each other the right amount of challenge. It's purpose is to reduce the time it takes to access a multiplayer experience under conditions that are optimal for the queuing players enjoyment. Nothing more.

That said, if you have uber you should pop it in times of danger for you or your heal target (as long as its not an engineer, spy, or bottom scorer) and dont wait until you're under 80 HP, because with 100 hp theres a lot of shit that will one-shot you already and theres no point on risking it.
Ideally you want to use uber or kritzkrieg when your heal target has just reloaded his weapons fully but realistically you will often just use uber to save a few teammates and not get much done other than survive
