There is a MASSIVE reward for investing in your own students, it frees up your flexibility comp wise and lets you avoid needing every niche student.
You're currently borrowing main dps hard carries because you're underleveled. When you hit max level you generally invest in said hard carries because they're so universally useful. Being able to borrow the missing piece of the puzzle, whether it be a character you don't have or one you have but can't afford to invest to high heavens for ONE raid strategy is a blessing.

You just have to accept that your Alice won't crit 25% of the time and adjust your run expectation accordingly. Critmalding is a choice you make if you want to shoot over your weight. Meanwhile with Shiroko you simply can't do that, you're forced to deal with her low crit.
