No, my point is that trading gear in reboot would make it very easy to create a whole bunch of strong boss mules, which would then have a cascading effect on mesos earned, boss drops, legion champ and whatever else. Such an effect would lead to Nexon trying to counterbalance it through some other changes, most likely nerfs to boss crystals, which in turn would impact the whole boss mule meta through which most players make their meso. You are approaching this topic like a child, asking what would benefit you without any concern for anything else. Would I benefit from, say, receiving a free 100b per week from Inkwell so that I can catch up to players who have been playing the game for years longer than me? Yeah, that would be nice. I prefer every character being able to use the gear they drop on themselves, I don't want it to be a consideration of using on x char vs y char.
Progging through equips on them individually is fun too.

A daily story player can buy all the passes and shit they want, they still won't come close to the wapchad who pops 5 waps a day, they won't even come close to a 1 wap a day player.

I actually like the passes because as a degenerate grinder the passes and stuff allow my friends and other players who have a life to stay in the game without feeling like they are left behind and quitting, it's unironically good for the health of the game.

The vac pet is probably the worst offender since the game is basically unplayable without one, but I consider it a form of subscription which is fine with me since even wow classic and osrs require a subscription.

Vac pets and battle passes basically justify reboots existence as well since nexon probably makes a killing having every player paying a monthly sub with optional battle passes, so if the game has to have some kind of "pay for x" mechanic I'm perfectly fine with them selling a small amount of progress instead of power/gear.

That's the same thing as paw2win though. In a game without pvp, the only metric of "success" is how much time it takes to reach a certain milestone, and what you can pay for in reboot allows you to reach those milestones faster than if you didn't. Convenience in your grinding rotation due to a vac pet allows you to get higher rates than someone without one. Passes give you items you wouldn't have gotten without paying for it, allowing for faster progression. The sol erda pass is flat out paying for damage, reboot is frag limited and that gives you fragments at a faster rate than someone who doesn't buy it. If you wap you're still paying with time, and there's nothing saying that someone who waps 5 hours a day doesn't also buy these things.

in account xferrable items is literally this. i run cgloom on 7 chars and not a single one has a 22 ET. With pity at least i can guarantee a chance at tapping, without I can still run for years and almost never see any.

Stuff like slime ring, arcanes and ring boxes are all mid game and don't matter anyway. They are insanely easy to get, throwing them on the ground means nothing

Pity pitched is a good solution because it gives more control to the player. Even if you have your 6 legion champs doing ctene and trading gear between them for a month you could still end up with 3 eyepatches, 2 hearts and an ET instead of the SoS spares that you need. You can't trade what you don't have so that feature is useless for addressing the actual problem. Another benefit of pity pitched is that it can be adjusted as needed. Right now it might take you a month's worth of kills to buy one. From a reg perspective, not getting magic wand is a huge problem since cubing is a lot more difficult without it. The note basically left reg players to eat shit, and anger at the state of the server was growing. In niru's crashout he brought up how the reward point shop is shit, even premium cube sales were shit, and how there's not enough supply to make sure there's a healthy economy because people are spread out too much along with items not being tradeable.

Now that we're over a year past it, we can see how some of their changes played out. The frenzy alternative through chains could have worked, but in order for it to be a good alternative there needs to be more chances to get one through events or they need to appear in philo books quarterly, not semiannually. We know they aren't going for a full world merge when that would probably be the best move for players but instead they want to try and milk the cross world auction house. I think fragments being tradeable was directly caused by niru, we usually get the short end of the stick with item tradability across all versions of reg.
In short, I'd say most of the changes were going to happen regardless and his crashout was just bad press for them. However, most of the changes they had were half assed and haven't actually improved the state of the server by much.

Looking at the current situation of GMS and how everyone seems to either be dissatisfied or flat out enraged I cant help but look back at one year ago when everyone was dreading the so called normalization that Chang Seop brought to KMS. Back then everyone thought it would be a game killer of GMS because it got rid of the reboot formula that keeps GMS afloat and its true that at the time it seemed like an awful thing to do because they were removing reboot without providing an immediate alternative, but with one year gone by and seeing the path that both KMS and GMS have taken I wonder how many here still think that "going west" was the best choice.

KMS chose to stir away from monetizing power to monetize exp, not quite what GMS heroic does but far from the greedy monetization methods of interactive. To compensate they released systems meant to fill in the gap like "Magic Wand" and Asmoth canyon, while improving on almost everything else. As of today its probably safe to say that the only aspect of KMS that's worse than current Heoric is the meso cap, which can be easily adjusted with a simple cap increase.

On the other hand we got GMS, which seems to have lost its route while going west and is currently stranded in place. The problem with this detour that GMS is taking is that we are forever in the dark as to what GMS will do and even if we know, GMS doesn't seem to be competent enough/have enough manpower to do the necessary work to ensure that this original work is laid out properly.

Then there is the difference between Heroic and Interactive. While KMS got rid of this rivalry by "normalizing" the servers and basically giving everyone the best of both worlds, GMS is stuck in a status of Heroic constantly questioning if they will be able to fully enjoy any new content added to the game while Interactive has become the wastelands where only whales thrive and only fools would dare go

So all of this begs the question, was it worth it?

Yes. Normalization was never an option for GMS given how its player base is, hence why the suits even allowed Go West to happen. The problem with current GMS is that it tries to do too much with too few resources. Fundamental issues that needed to be solved were heroic endgame progression and the shortage of pitched drops in both types of servers that exist due to GMS having a smaller population than KMS. Before anything could be done about those the Nisu episode forced attention onto reg issues that culminate in this upcoming server merge, after which it's finally time to do something about the pitched problem and then presumably the matter of heroic.

Beyond the fixes Inkwell also wanted GMS to have a more distinct identity, hence why he's been porting over classes from CMS, introduced Sia and introduced Ride or Die. The latter two in particular brought with them their own bugs and glitches which caused even more work and delayed the solutions to the other issues. And on top of all of that there's now Classic that needs to be developed and staffed, which further drains resources away from all the other stuff. What Inkwell needs to do is to stop biting off more than he can chew and finish what he started before working on more new things. That's what's going to win people over.

The two major issues Nexon Korea doesn't seem to understand is that western MMO players have different needs/priorities to Korean players and that they seriously need to stop cheaping out on overseas development costs. Both Square Enix and Jagex have shown perfect examples of what to and not to do to appease a western audience and make your MMO a success yet Nexon seem to stumble at the most basic steps.

I've got a BM, a hero and a WA. I did also get a NL and a corsair to 6th job but I've been neglecting them ever since. The NL turned out to be a bit dull but corsair seemed alright so I might give that one another go. I'm planning to use the second hyper burn on a DW since I have one already geared up in maple gear from last year's anniversary. It'll at least make for a decent mule even if I don't want to continue playing it beyond 260. Other classes I'm interested in are lynn, mihile and the bun, but really I'm waiting for the anima and flora archers since I've always enjoyed playing that branch more than the others. I'm sure I'll manage to find a main and 5 champs from among all these options.

To fix reg's meso market problem the meso supply needs to be cut down or the things that cost maple points need to reasonably match what the exchange rate is. The highest spike we had this summer was 100m:480 maple points. Remember back when you used to get around 800 points for the same amount? Even then that's not a healthy rate. Nexon will never drop the prices of things, so the only solution is to cut how many mesos players can get. The first step would be to ban botters, what it would take to do that I don't know but it would be a start. If that doesn't make the situation better, maybe implement the meso cap. If I remember back when the cap was introduced, people calculated it would take about 2-2 1/2 hours to hit on frenzy.

Problem is that many players are so used to it by now that they'd quit if it were ever removed, so the cure is worse than the disease. Frenzy's existence is a huge problem, and while completely removing it would be one way to solve it, I don't think it's the only way and should be a last resort. How many players do you think hit and exceed the theoretical meso cap? We don't have that data, but nexon does. If the economy doesn't improve after implementing a meso cap, maybe make frenzy also negatively affect your meso rates. Maybe implement instanced maps, so those with frenzy aren't fucked over and a player can still get frenzy rates by getting a chains, which would severely limit the amount of mesos generated but not completely kill the existence of frenzy. TB is honestly the only cygnus class i enjoy.
Movement is smooth and has a lot of control. Shit can trivialize a lot of fights. Only downside is that you're spamming 2 abilities constantly in quick succession. But the tradeoff is that there's almost 0 delay when linking skills so you can move quickly after attacking and that can help a lot with uptime on mobile bosses, so it cancels out.

1. Increase drop rate across the board: Slime, Twilight, Daybreak, KT etc are now guaranteed 100% drops, the appearance of pitched items has been doubled.

2. Gear storage: All gear and weapon boxes can now be put into storage, but become permanently locked to a character once equipped

4. Ctene bosses become daily bosses: Crystals remain weekly and the same price and will only drop once per week, but you can now run all ctene bosses on a daily basis for a chance at extra items including pitch.

3. Pitch pity: Bosses with pitch loot table now drop tokens that can be exchanged for its specific pitched item, 50 tokens can be exchanged for its corresponding item.

You're also neglecting the impact free ctene mules would have on other aspects of the game, like meso income from boss crystals and the legion champ system. You talk about investing into your account, but what investment is it if I just throw unnecessary spare equipment I've obtained on my main onto random hyper burns to create instant mules? My CW char just reached the point where it's able to solo hdarknell and getting there by building the character the traditional way was much more rewarding than just dropping some existing equipment onto it on week 1. That's how the game is meant to be played. The char is not quite a full-fledged ctene mule yet, but it's close to that point and I've only spent like 20b on it so far, so I don't know where you're getting this 200b figure from. I have a 2 set 17* arcane with the rest being the item burning set that is 19* absos with unique potential, hardly difficult to obtain. Arcane boxes aren't actually the massive obstacle you're making them out to be.
