Any of the games can be skipped (you could just start from 18 or 19), but that doesn't mean they should. If you skip the pc98 games you'll be missing out on some amazing fun.
If you're planning on playing them all I recommend starting from the first one and getting just a clear (with continues) on the first three games, then trying to get your first 1cc on the fourth one, and, from that point on, moving on to the following game only after you manage to get the 1cc (ideally with all of the shot types, but that's up to preference).

The music on MoF is amazing and elevates the experience of playing the game, even though the danmaku only really gets good starting from sanae.

It takes some time before you get used to reading the screen, knowing where to focus your attention and feel your hitbox.
Also if controls are getting in the way (like moving with right hand on arrows when you're used to WASD) change them with autohotkey or something. Not being able to carry over your legacy skill due to difference in controls can be a massive hindrance.

I could feel the second-hand adrenaline on that MoF spell clear, it wouldn't have come down to the wire like this if you had had more practice at unfocusing for short bursts, but it made for a very hype finish and you'll get to practice that in StB anyway.

The idea that you can't get a good stick for a reasonable price is an absolutely criminal grift perpetrated by highly melanated individuals in the fighting game "community". It used to mostly be true in the west when 99% of sticks sold here weren't even microswitched, and most of the very few that were, were still kind of jank and didn't use standardized parts you could easily swap. There was a time where you either had to import a HRAP or pay someone to build a stick for you if you didn't know how to do it yourself (obviously expensive). Now days, you buy can a Mayflash F101 for cheap and it's great right out of the box. Already gets you 95% of the way there that a $200 stick does. If I were you, I'd order one of those. If you really like it, you can always order a chink copy of seimitsu ls-32 stick/seimitsu buttons off Aliexpress for cheap, watch a youtube video on how to install them, and you're 99.9% of the way there at a fraction of the price.

>The present: AI sloppa is rampant and is flooding the outside world with useless information, which flows into Gensokyo and thus Yuiman.
