Switch was the most successful console Nintendo has ever had, and we'll see by the end of next year or at least mid-2027 whether or not the Switch 2 was a VB/GC/Wii U or another Switch 1.
Nintendo has no reason to buy PlayStation, the Sony IPs would be far more valuable than the PlayStation brand, but Nintendo wouldn't buy those either.

Consoles feel like they're on their way out anyway. Nintendo is really the one one that's relevant and that's because the Switch is just a tablet + tendies being tendies.
With the increasing attention coming to PC from eastern markets, indies always being on PC first and consoles (if they do a port) second, Sony and Microsoft losing their grip on having their "big exclusives" end up on PC makes them lose brand identity.
I wouldn't be surprised if Sony tried doing it's own launcher but I think they're too stupid to try that. Only Nintendo would be able to get away with it because of how rabid their fanbase is.

It also doesn't help the big 3 when an indie game becomes FOTM and sells millions, all that money is going to the dev and Valve.

I generally agree. E1 Fang is a tough nut to crack, since you're essentially dealing with a woman who is both a bad person, insane, and on the verge of collapse. You essentially have to write her as a sympathetic villain.

I also strongly disliked the "Anon loses an arm" angle, since it's some type of karmic punishment - something none of the games implements, fortunately.

I'm 50/50 on the Anon losing the arm thing.
I know in reality it was just done for the Metal Gear reference, but I can picture it working okay if the story was a bit different.
The idea of Anon losing an arm (or hand) in some kind of tragic accident that affects him mentally, as he can't bond with Fang over guitar or do his hobbies as well as before, is okay.
Not the first idea I'd go for, but I can picture it being used as a good narrative device to help show the supportive side of his relationship with Fang.

That being said, I agree with you about how it was handled in LSS.
Anon beats himself up about it by saying how he never learnt his lesson properly about paying attention and then links it back to how he acted in SG E1 path and that gave me a weird disconnect when I was reading it because associating a military bomb he mishandled with how he treated Fang and other people is just a weird connection to make.
Though I think the moment of him trying to play guitar and fucking up was good, and feel it should have leaned into that more if there was more commitment to the arm.
Show Anon actually going through the experiences that real prosthetic people have to endure like how Wani highlights the way people with disabilities get treated like Olivia. There was a little of it but more would have been good.

The arm also becomes irrelevant way too quickly, going back to my posts last thread about pacing, because Ripley fixes the core issue quickly.
I liked handyman Ripley, but there should have been more time taken to build up to him making an arm for Anon, so we could have seen how the arm affects him more, how Fang supports him with that etc.
Then there's the implication that Naser will find a way to get Anon a much better arm so he has more mobility too, and that kind of undermines the impact the arm's supposed to have in Anon's life.
The final bonus chapter even shows how Anon starts to like the arm since he finds it easy to do stuff like row the canoe.

Trish was handled pretty well in LSS though, it was a good take of an E1 Trish.

There were some attempts at "Fang/Anon from different routes reset and end up together" or "Anon/Fang from route X" end up in a different one, but they are universally bad to mediocre. As usual Fang is whitewashed in each and every one, even E1 Fang.

A good story that has somewhat of a good premise is "End of an Improbable Route." It isn't time travel, but more akin to "what if the Fang on the E4 route was as insane as she is on E1." Keep in mind though it's completely Anon-centric.
