a +20 Horned Sword from Fordraig carried me all the way through Guarda; if the curve remains similar then a +20 ebonsteel weapon will likely be useful for the majority of the 4th Abyss and only really drop off in the post-dungeon optional superboss content.

Is there a faster way to get exp? Because those little green and blue books are useless and they don't sell the higher tier books in the jeweler. I don't want to spend days grinding

Look for dispatches with only the EXP icon, they tend to give a lot of exp but nothing else.
For manual farming, the kill X waves of enemies requests are your best bet. Aside from the early undead march request, you can back out of the others 1 or 2 waves in to reset the wave count allowing you to just run back in and fight the 1st and 2nd waves again.
There's an exp penalty every 5 or so level a char is above an enemy, so you want to artificially keep a char's level low by not grading them.
Don't bother exp grinding with your main party, you should have more than enough exp from clearing the abyss.

Finally got a decent one...haven't altered or refined anything yet, what direction do I go here? Swap acc for sur or eva%?

What level do you want to grind? If you have beaten ninjer cave, reset the quest, nuke the 2 squads of quest ninjers with 4-5 units with La spells and get 4k per ninjer. Then if you want to grind some more go down to floor 3 and search for more squads, or just reset. Remember to switch back to Wanderer before resting at the inn to keep your level low.

Just sit right before the water zones to bait out as much enemies as possible since fishmen get massive buffs in water and you can't cast spells.
The main objective is just an endurance match where you try to make the most of your limited resources in a pretty lengthy area.
Protip: Don't use the fountain straight away try to delay using it as long as possible, and if you see a suspicious area, go back and around it to find a statue.

Lesser FAS are basically only useful for attempting to turn a trash 4* purple into something useful. FAS should be saved for the class rings, ideally you would use it before you alter a useless stat to something useful since the altered stat won't get carried over. Extract them. You can "upgrade" stones by using them to alter a stat on a 4* item you plan to extract - if you get a stone from the resulting extraction, it will be a 4* stone rather than the 1* stone you originally used. If you are early in the game just ignore the discipline, skill inherit, and merging system until way later in the game where you've filled out your adventurer list and have picked the best character bases, in case you roll a stronger copy.

Problem with trying to use ningers and samurai early is that they take 2x the exp requirements, so the rest of your party outlevels them very quickly, making them annoying to upkeep while pushing content. The gearing issue is also there, but its more significant on ninja than samurai since ninja's get hit hard by enemy def gating their damage.

This is the first legendary bonus we've ever gotten, so unless you are willing to hold normal bones for at least another year pull now.

The only annoying part is surviving the 1st phase with his tentacles. Once they are down, he pretty much gets stunlocked by FPS's damage and kept cycling between being down and getting up to try and close the door.
