Read the manga. Like, the visuals can be good but I watched until the Fujino movie and there isn't much sense.
The manga actually has more monologue, narration, explanations etc.
For example: when they were going to explain Fujino's powers, it's difficult for a Mage to do so because Mystic Eyes are in some sort of hybrid realm of Magecraft and ESP. So Mikiya went to verify with a researcher and explained the situation, with the researcher mentioning once a while stuff like ''two channels''.
He then delved more that her powers come from parts of the brain a person doesn't use normally, this in turn is the way to activate her Mystic Eyes. Fujino is usually an overall unfeeling normal person, but when she can feel pain she ''is in a different channel''. In this mode, she can use her powers, but this causes a shift in personality as well, turning her into a psychopath that has delight in murdering people.
It in turn explains why in Tsukihime they made a big deal of Shiki Tohno having the killer glasses. It's implied it wouldn't just be a fragile life seeing death everywhere, but using the powers too much would naturally turn him inhumane because his ''switch'' is malfunctioning.
