They reduced the number of zones and raids, and bosses in raids so much over the years that some people are happy with just 2 new and 2 revamped zones, and 9 raid bosses to start the expansion off with.
Even in Cataclysm, when they revamped almost the entire old world, they still gave you 5 entirely new zones.
Some people keep mentioning how quality is more important that quantity, but in reality you get less quantity and equal or worse quality.

It is unironically worse than that. You're fine and as long as you read and pay attention, you'll do better than 99% of players.
They unironically stack multiple layers of addons spamming alerts at them... and they STILL need raid leads holding their hand for every fucking mechanic, constantly, all the goddamned time.
And the worst thing?
That's my experience with the GOOD players when I was in a Top 5% guild.
In the last tier I played, I eventually just turned DBM off entirely, since I was spending too much time disabling too many alerts to not be worthless spam. I never even configured WA except for Eonar groups during Legion.

Writing was kind of on the wall with Earthen, but I bet at least some of it goes back to the backlash against nightborne joining the Horde after Alliance players put in just as much effort in Suramar. From a costs perspective, it's also more desirable to make future allied races available to both factions, since then you can do half as much work.
