Moreover, the accident wasn't done just to go "ooo, it's like they're really they're!" It was done because it was an in-universe event and the characters had to overcome a basic conflict that's attached to their in-game stories. Mikoto had to let go of a perfect performance and Nichika had to put herself out there alone. It's really not that hard to figure out if you just have even a remote idea of who these characters are.

I don't remember if there's an exact reason that sparked it beyond this (someone else can chime in if they're more informed), but she's been musically inclined since she was young and ended up striving to have that "perfect performance" so she pushes herself to reach that goal. I feel like this added to the feeling SHHis/CoMETIK had as well. Even if you went past the dramatics easily enough, there was just a lot of underlying connections going on. You could get into Nichika's/Mikoto's characters on their own, but they're intrinsically attached to Hazuki, Amai, Luca, and Nami and all of that affects the agency itself and it's just kind of...a lot. It's still going too (and it's good), but it definitely starts to feel less like a simple idol game when there's enough moving pieces added on.
