I don't know what it's like for new players now but megalow MMR is a bit hellish last I checked because 70% of your games will have a leaver. You kinda just have to soldier on with the fact it's gonna take time before things start to feel right

Most heroes have several different builds they can use, it's just that naturally some will be better than others.

Like the other anon pointed out with Haze she actually has a lot of diversity in her builds. You can build her for just damage, or you can build her to make her ult an auto-win button if it doesn't get interrupted, alternatively you can build her as a super slippery split pusher that utilizes her invis to speed around the map, you can unironically build her for spirit because everything she has scales off spirit and dagger even has ridiculously high spirit scaling.

Infernus' typical build is a mix of fire rate + spirit to deal massive DoT damage but you can further turn Infernus into a monstrous debuffer with his m1 or even build him around his dash which is insanely strong when built for it. Not as diverse but there is a distinction between the playstyles.

For both of those characters you can build for a roaming playstyle or a mid-late game farming playstyle that allows you to farm really efficiently

The newer characters seem a bit more rigid. The base game characters could all be full gun or full spirit if you really wanted. Mina literally can’t not be spirit but nor can you ignore her gun. You can’t build her full gun, and if you build her full spirit your ult would do shit damage anyways unless you brawl with it constantly

Doorman can’t be a gun hero (let’s be real). And you can’t really ignore Billy’s gun and melee. I think they started with a design philosophy but after the shop rework I think they’ve mostly abandoned it because it made design kits even harder if you wanted them to be capable of such diverse specialisation. Look at all the base heroes and see how many abilities have a secondary upgrade that increases gun damage some how: bebop, Geist, pocket

His ult needs to deal damage UPON entering the ult and then take extra damage if they fail to leave on time. This fixes two problems
1. It allows you to actually build spirit synergies that might make it tougher for enemies to escape
2. Enemies who are going to die whether they escape or not don't have their time wasted.

The baroness definitely needs a buff of some kind. The amount of damage it does even if they failed isn’t that good. That damage can also just be ignored by spell breaker or counter spell. The parkour is trivial if you have any movement items.

Make the parkour more elaborate and make the stay much longer that escaping in time isn’t the issue but rather falling into the abyss does a piss load of damage (like potentially lethal) and you take spirit damage while in the baroness so the longer you’re in there the more fucked you are.

The stay needs to be longer, the most interesting part is how you’re suddenly blind and absent to the match so when you return you could be safe or you could be surrounded by 5 rapists. And because you suck at wall jumping it took you like 50 seconds to escape so you took a million damage

Depends if you want to play around run and gun, cage, or your ultimate.
If you're new I would recommend choosing either Knockdown or Majestic Leap as your first t3 item, they're very generally useful and it will get you in the habit of using your active item hotkeys. Leap allows you to initiate on people and traverse the map easier, while Knockdown will take out aerial opponents and stop your enemies from leaving cage radius.

A point and click execute is never going to work, and especially not on a character with actual damage. Achille's execute is still strong despite being a reactable/dodgeable skillshot with a big startup, and Achille doesn't have half of shiv's damage.
Going back to cu chulainn, while he's not the most profound 900 iq character, he actually *plays around* his rage and manageing it to get good ults is his skill expression. Shiv's rage is the most boring shit ever, it's just a lame minigame of keeping it up by hitting a knife every once in a while in exchange for massive buffs.
At the very least they removed the tedium of keeping it up all the time by hitting neutrals

Let's stick to Valve games and take TF2 and CSGO as well in the aspect. Imagine a sphere with a nucleus inside, both games have the same nucleus (FPS team shooter) but different exterior (different modes, gun working, etc.)

Now take DOTA and DL, the inside is way different (one being a shooter, the other being a point and click) but the stuff surrounding it is all the same (one mode, moba with towers, minions, etc.)

I wouldn't ditch the MOBA aspect but i'd certainly put more casual modes to have another slice of playerbase that keeps the game even more active than ever.

I am better at the game, and Shiv's winrate in phantom and beyond is 45% last I checked. His passive has no skill expression, so better players can't utilize it to win fights properly. It's inherently cheesy, which is also why noobs struggle with it. Congrats, you get Shiv to bully noobs in lower brackets because they won't buy decay, but you'll still get fucked in matches where players DO know to buy decay. So the character is trash with a bad ability.


I don't think Shiv defenders are actually high mmr here. The only reason you would defend his boring, no-skill-expression kit is if you enjoy getting free wins against noobs. If you were ACTUALLY high mmr, you would agree that his kit is awful and somewhat boring, and wouldn't care about free wins against noobs because you wouldn't be playing versus noobs

Get Warp Stone for one, also make sure you hit with his 2. The CD is majorly reduced if you hit with, you need to land your 2s so that you can use it again in that same fight to chase. He's pretty easy though or maybe I just "got him" for some reason. Basically whenever you think you're going to fight someone; Get blasted, charge in with 2, hit 1 right away, start shooting, throw out a light melee when you get low on ammo (make sure you do it before you reach 0 or you auto reload and can't use your passive), start shooting again, by now your 1 should be ready, hit it when you get low on ammo again to reload again. Basically if you ever do your reload animation in a fight you fucked up. Use light melees to reload because they can't be parried on reaction. Don't throw out a light melee right after your charge or 1, a lot of people parry on instinct when you do those and you want to shoot a little first so you get value out of the free reload. Also don't back up once you start fighting in most cases, you have a better chance of living if you stay blasted and keep hitting melees and 1s.
