I'm playing 2042 because it's kinda fun and I can turn my brain off while playing to listen to YouTube or some shit. It's still the worst Battlefield game ever but the worst Battlefield ever is still a better game than most shooters that come out to begin with. When this fuckass battle pass is done I probably won't play as much but I'll still play it from time to time or if I can't get 6 on launch. If I want a Battlefield I actually have to pay attention to, I have 4 and the fan servers for older games.

Iwo Jima with the helicopters seemed to cranked the last 400 up quickly with a second multikill (I needed for the objectives).

Now I don't have to scream "I NEED AMMO!" repeatedly anymore. Good christ, is the player base dumb and nobody divides and conquers on the medic side. Everybody going either all ammobags or medickits. Never an even split.

Well the Condor is literally 'what if Osprey but jet engines', but the Super Hind is weird because it's essentially a Hind and a Hip smashed together to make the ultimate military helicopter. It was actually kinfa fun looking up what each vehicle is actually named, like the Bolte in reality is an unmanned drone and the Draugr is a concept drone Sukhoi came up with. Or how the Russian stealth helicopter is based on a model kit of a theoretical stealth helicopter to counter the RAH-66 Comanche. 2042's vehicle variety is great honestly.

So what you're seeing here is a huge flaw in BFs design. But not in the way you think. Basically, 2042 gave a TON of freedom to the player. To decided how they want to play. And it fell down to two choices

Then they introduced various vehicles, mechanics, and such where they were built on the assumption that a majority of people playing fell into the "Be a teamplayer category". This did not happen.

Here is how you're "supposed" to counter these

Hack disable stealth and basically disables all defensive capabilities. If an AA locks on after hack, its a guaranteed hit. If you Rao hack, the heli will probably run for the hills cause they panic. At least keep them off your back for awhile. I think the "good" players will pop flares right as the hack is about to finish. I usually run Rao + Soflam. Rao is a stupidly powerful recon support spec that nobody plays cause you get more kills/points with other specialists

So yeah completely agree. The devs of 2042 acted like they were surprised by player behavior in terms of being selfish and such. I mean shoot, you can even say it was like that in bf2 when many people would ignore repairing/destroy commander objectives. Or repairing tanks, or reviving, etc. Like you said, passive teamwork is the way forward. Don't give medics a heal that they can only apply to themselves (a self bandage, a self injector like falyk). No, you HAVE to give them a medcrate and make that the only way they can heal themselves. That way in the process of healing themselves, they open the door to supporting their team. Even if it wasn't their intention.

Passive teamwork and restrictions to prevent people playing the game so selfishly it plays like shit. They actually seem to be going this route in Bf6 based on the leaks and beta. Support gets specs where players can resupply or heal by interacting with you. Engineer has one that auto spots nearby mines. I don't think engineer have C4 this time around. skins and battle passes however, are digital goods. you don't own them. they're kept on your account which doesn't belong to you. you're working hard to grow a collection that someone else owns, and lets you access by asking them if you could see it, and they always have the right to throw your collection into the dumpster once they decide it's not worth keeping around.

digital goods you don't own aren't a collectible like trading cards, they're a way to attach a customer to your product ecosystem and keep the customer invested in it. this same applies for all extrensic motivators like achievements and cosmetics in general. you're being marketed the idea that you are entitled to something that's not yours, through goods that are not yours and also aren't real goods.

it's essentially you owning nothing and being happy.

An item being physical doesn't make it inherently worth more than a digital one. Shit like Magic cards and Gogos only have value because we ascribe value to them, but WotC can't send a ninja team to steal your cards. Not yet anyways. And those Gogos if you still have them are just trinkets now unless you find some other person nostalgic for them. I found mine a while ago and I'm pretty sure I threw them out or donated them. I've always viewed digital items as less of something that I own individually and more a part of something I already own. Unless it's like a TF2 hat because I can sell these for Steambux or real money, which is honestly something I'd rather not have because of the utterly deranged behavior trading markets enable. I'm not as gung ho about this shit as I was when I was a kid or a teenager though, my old Battlefield Heroes characters and the drip I bought for them are long gone. By the time Heroes went offline I had more or less moved on from it so I don't really consider it money wasted, so much as it is the vidya equivalent of buying junk food. With 6 I'll only buy the initial battle pass if it lets me gather enough currency or whatever to get the next pass.
