Gameplay isn't canon. Only a handful were corrupted. The Exile had a peaceful stroll through the village before fighting Tavakai.

I just cleared Act 4 on my first attempt (HC SSF). Nearest to death was taking Benedictus’s maze crush in the face which brought me to about 300 HP. It’s funny, the game froze for a half second when it hit as if deciding whether I was dead or not. The final boss took me over five minutes and was totally exhilarating. It does the “dodge this or die” chime so many times in a row I stopped even trying to guess what was coming next.

I’m playing a homebrew Ice Monk and it’s alright. I was stuck using an Act 3 quarterstaff for like eight hours and wasted a billion exalts and chaos trying to get something better.

This is the first time I’ll ever complain about item scarcity, as a Day 0 Ruthless chad: Runes. What the fuck. I think I’ve dropped one storm rune in 25 hours so far. My res is trash. Iron Runes have gotta be worth a divine by now. And no, sorry GGG, I’m still not bothering with the other trash runes that aren’t Iron or Res.

I’m gonna be farming for like 10 hours at the start of the Interlude now just to fix my res. Fuck.

What does it matter? Resists are pointless in the campaign, even on HC, you don't need to use fucking runes kek.
Also there's a literal rune merchant in the interlude and you can 3 to 1 runes.

If they wanted to give downsides to ascendencies, they should make them more like Blood Mage where it is more of a "double edged sword" rather than a straight up downside. It's funny how GGG removed old atlas strats because it completely fucked with how people were meant to progress the atlas, like people decided NOT to complete certain maps and just stacking sextants all around it, people deliberately only running maps to spawn elderslayers then leaving, manipulation shaper and elder influence on the atlas and many more.
They removed all of that shit but then decided to add fucking towers of all things, which is more cancerous than anything else they have added before. The amount of autism to use this mechanic and even merely thinking about it makes me not even want to touch this game which for all its flaws, I actually enjoy PoE 2.

It's got a long cast time that's easy to cancel and I think you can turn it off if you press the button again afterwards. You really have to stop and make sure that the mob has the wisp effect before you kill it.

what's the upside here?

it took me pissing away like three divines before I got a handle on the new crafting system but I finally got an upgrade to my scepter ready, the only thing I need to hit is "allies do x% increased damage in your presence".

That 170 Spirit is T2 56% increased and t7 hybrid combined. Am I correct that if I want to ensure a brick is impossible, that I should Whittling off the T7 mod and then Desecrate it to try and get % increased damage, then use an Omen of Light to remove it if I don't get the right modifier? That seems like it could be expensive but is otherwise 100% deterministic with no chance to brick it.

Armour and armour applies to ele is good but you really want leech/instaleech. If you're not recovering your full health all the time, armour mapping won't be comfy because you'll die a death of a thousand 1dmg cuts (and possibly your own skill costs cutting into life).

That's the way it is. The exp you need keeps ramping up.

Lots of people get filtered somewhere in the 90s and just don't level up anymore because each death will cost you literal hours of grinding.

But there's also a big upside to still leveling, because 3 skill points can often be a 10% dps difference, which is HUGE in the end-endgame.

3.27 is going to bomb. 3.26 was hyped up for almost a year, came with a league and an end-game expansion and still brought in pisspoor numbers.

0.4 will probably surpass 0.1. After that it will be very hard for GGG to justify the allocation of significant resources to PoE1 and it will get put into some kind of maintenance mode.

These new anomaly maps are trash and don't have enough payout for how many maps you have to clear around it in order to unlock it. Sometimes you even have to backtrack already cleared nodes which is even more annoying. These devs learned nothing from the past 2 seasons.

The punishment for juicing maps is too much with the recent changes.

The previous system of portals per mod actually made sense because you could stop once you had all prefixes (prefixes gave buffs to loot, suffixes gave harder map. But now that we have the POE system of every mod makes it harder, combining that with less portals is extremely harsh. The old way meant that If I was unlucky and got all my suffixes before my prefixes then I had to suck it up and do the map with less tries which was a good exchange. But now if I want the maximum juice, it’s not just rolling with three lucky mods, it HAS to be rolled with all 6 that are all designed to kill me. I think this season was a good experiment to see if having the POE2 portal logic mixed with the POE map mod logic would work, but after a couple of weeks mapping I can confidently say personally I will never grind this game deep into endgame if this is the punishment I have to endure. The combat is not meaningful with 6+ mods because every death I suffer is a one shot from off screen. So either I kill enemies off screen so they don’t touch me or they kill me in one shot with a single projectile due to all the buffs they have and the debuffs stacked on me.

TLDR: we just need to stick to 6 portals. Great experiment, I’m happy we tried something different. But it’s just driving me away from wanting to progress.

I am so mad and confused at GGG. They put in all these cool combos, even inter weapon type combos with spells and stuff but you can't really do them because you get swarmed instantly and raped by the insane amount of damage white mobs do, especially early game.
Like what's the point of doing something like, get 3 power charges with killing palm, go to a pack of mobs, use frost bomb, frozen locus and then explode them with falling thunder if I get immediately zergd down, stunned mid air animation and eventually killed.
Why didn't they just slow and tune down mob damage so we can do all these combos they spent time implementing.
They can speed up and increase mob damage in maps since we're a bit faster and tankier later on.
I don't know man, I don't get these decisions. They are now moving away from combos thinking they are a problem, they're not, combos are great, mobs just need to be tuned down so they can work as intended.

Their attempt to make the game more welcoming for new players makes it even worse. Imagine you're a newbie, you get an uncut gem and you pick a skill you think looks fun in the video preview (it's shit), you drop a support gem and you jsut stick one of the suggested supports, at every level you pick a passive node with no direction or general idea of what you want. You go along like that and somehow you get through acts (painfully depending on which class you picked)... then you're at maps, completely lost, your build is shit, your gear is shit, everything in trade is expensive, your tree is shit and you don't have gold to respec (you wouldn't know what to do anyway). So what do you do? You quit from frustration and you consider the campaign as having finished the game.
PoE1 left people completely lost and it was a filter right there. Even hillock alone filtered thousands. In PoE2 their attempt at handholding is only on surface level because handholding simply doesn't fit the autism simulator spawned by the BFR twisted mind.

Truth is the game is simply not fun if you're not a mazie, and even mazed faggots quit early because there are no challenges

Yeah I dunno why they gave up on it so quickly, it made perfect sense and worked with the "different skills for different shit" concept.
There are upsides to both systems but they were onto something interesting and abandoned it before even 10% of the potential was realized (due to the extremely limited number of supports+many of them being boring af).

This general just fellates anything poe 1 does even if it doesn't make sense. The poe 1 gem system is just not very good beyond the base concept. It's more interesting than something like Diablo 4 but 99% of the time the gems just amount to "more damage"

The current CoC Blood Mage gems are widely varied. Frostbolt with freeze, lineage wildshards, and projectile speed. Ice Nova with astral projection, aoe, and +damage/-cast speed. Frost Darts with chaos damage contributes to freeze buildup. Meanwhile the FRSS supports are crit damage, crit damage, spell echo, crit strike, and chaos damage.

You are sacrificing consistency and efficiency for an annoying gameplay style with uncertainty and rng. One of the most annoying things about fireball and its' infusions is how often it whiffs. When the stars align its good, but 4/5 tines it hits like a wet noodle. If you use it on an item that doesn't have max mods, it takes up a random slot. You can then go to the lightless cave (in a2 mammoth area) to reveal that mod, and it will let you pick between 3 choices. The pool of those choices are normal mods for that item, and some new mods.
