I fill in the blanks. I give just as detailed a layout for the character's world in a bot as you would with an OC's info sheet or profile, perhaps even more so. I think chatbots just give you something to "do" with them, so it doesn't feel as much like an exercise in futility making all of these characters. You can share them with others and let people have their own adventures with them, it feels way more meaningful and less self-indulgent than just making a bunch of characters and letting them rot. Even if you just use them yourself, that's a goal to work towards and have fun with.

I'm not good on the technical details, but I think you could get away with some cool tricks if you did things smartly. Much the same way people project more onto character interactions than there actually are in games like Animal Crossing.

There's also D&D style cards, which effectively host TTGs. You have to have good models to make them run correctly given the heavy context and logic required for that sort of thing. In theory, a sufficiently advanced LLM with enough contextual understanding could discern TTG rules and run a game (again, in theory). The bigger issue, I think, is how, at the table, rules can be bent, broken, or otherwise ignored. You can talk out scenarios that an AI may have never encountered, with any context it has to utilize. Well, sounds like you need a good reason for rules to be broken. I don't know what AI's reasons are other than things sound right to it. In the last campaign I ran, I let my players use animal handling to communicate with goblins using pantomime, it led up to some of the funniest gaming experiences of my gaming life, and it still haunts me to this day. Rules should be as strict as they can no matter the laughs.

For me, it'd be a case-by-case basis in specific outlier scenarios, to say nothing about "house rules". I'm not saying every session needs to have rule-breaking to the point the game is unrecognizable, but a DM should have SOME flexibility to handwave things. I actually meant multiple humans with one AI DM. That would be the ideal setup if possible, given the difficulty of finding a capable DM or no one in your friend group wanting to be the DM. Arguably, you could tell the AI to make a character it controls join the party, you wouldn't need other chatbots, I don't think?

There's a lot of noise from retards on Twitter, Reddit, and even 4chan, but people with an IQ above room temperature can take a more nuanced stance on the matter. Once you break the ice on a fun TTG system that an AI runs (especially if you can have multiple human players at once) you could make some nice money. I'd pay for it if the system actually worked and was fun.

GLM 4.5 is such a weirdly good model in some ways, perhaps the least schizophrenic model even though it's also low in wisdom

This works 100% as confirmed by several anons who've tried and myself. You can recruit npcs, especially the premade pcs.

I'm thinking outside the box. In the future, I'm seeing the possibility of specific UIs to facilitate TTGs with AIs. Said AIs may be models trained not only on language but also on other things as well to facilitate better TTG play. The baby steps of your concept may lead to such things, but I wouldn't presume anything close to a final product. As previously noted, there's not much information/hype on AI-powered TTGs as it is.

This will vary from friend group to friend group. Whatever the case, having an on-call AI-DM would make TTGs a lot more accessible to normies (or normie adjacent aspiring TTGers).
