I honestly think the meta is pretty solid and Crest Haven isn't an overwhelming problem despite being the best deck, but holy shit, it is impossible to optimize against it. Every other deck I can go "well I need to get under Izudias so let's add a faster wincon" or "I need to answer congregants so we'll get some wide removal in here" but there's so little tech that does anything against Crest Haven. I really think it's top 1 on merit of being like, 5/5 or 6/4 against everything with zero bad match ups.

I think the problem with dragon is their strongest, craft defining card (neptune) is purely defensive but they need to be aggressive against all the best decks.

you can triple fennie and mode still outvalues you in their sleep, rune still otks you, and haven just laughs at you. But at the same time your best finisher is... forte? garyu? genesis? all garbage. They were definitely expecting azurjeet or whatever to be better.

It only seems not an overwhelming problem with 5/5 or 6/4 against everything because it pushed the decks with worse matchups against it out of the game. Midrange Sword is still a fine deck against everything else but it has a 9/1 matchup against haven so it's unplayable.

I say Forte is still Dragon's strongest card. 7-8 damage storm for 6 pp is the most cost effective follower with no gimmicks. It doesn't even need overflow for intiminate.

Yes there is counterplay, it's to be aggressive and force out their evolve points. Unlike Rune, the combo actually do NEED one evolve point to work. And also unlike Rune, you can tank face damage from them without worrying, which mean the aggro plan is much more effective. Another counterplay you can make is board locking them. The OTK needs 3 board space (usually), and they only have 4, as 1 is already occupied by a tablet.

It is a funny deck though, and yeah it would be annoying as fuck if it ever gets good, I don't disagree with you there. Dragon (specifically Ramp) shouldn't be tier 1

Is Mode Abyss just impossible with Izudia? They can just summon 3 5/5s in one card before your Izudia turn and now you can either leave one of them up to get buffed by Cerberus next turn or you spend a super evo just to clear 1 card and it delays your win condition. Then they have other boards that require specific cards to clear.
