It's a total conversion hack of Super Metroid and a re-imagining Metroid Fusion. The setting is the same, the layout is similar, but the story, progression, items, and bosses are all different.

The vision of Sonic Team veterans just isn't very fresh or excting. Frontiers was just nothing. I can't point to anything in the game which felt truly inspired. Even the hacking minigames where just a shitty Ikaruga clone.

Shadow's backstory is important to his character and I genuinely do not see the problem with bringing it up continuously

People need to be more specific about which Tails humiliation scene in Forces.
There’s at the start where he’s too weak and cowardly to fight a single egg pawn.
Later when he refuses to help against Infinite.
Later with “Sonic help me!” And Classic Sonic getting wanked.
Act 2 where Sonic faces Eggman and Tails cowers again, then when Buddy rescues him Tails keeps cowering on his ass instead of fighting just the fucking eggmobile.
Act 3 where everyone in the cast defeats the Infinite army except for Tails who cowers away from the fight and does nothing.

Sonic’s just such a bad mary sue character for obese manchildren that he needed multiple Tails humiliation scenes to make himself look good in comparison.

The saddest thing about Forces' story is that Classic Sonic is the only one in-character because he can't have any dialogue, everything he does is either a kind gesture towards an ally or him getting to work immediately and he doesn't smile all the fucking time like Modern Sonic usually does.

Just read the new Blade of Courage chapter! Not what I expected. I thought it was going to have Yuta meet Knuckles or some other game character, but instead it's just a fun little one off and probably self-contained adventure. I like it. Also I was surprised to see dinosaurs. Kinda disappointed that Tails didn't go with them, but I still enjoyed it. I would like to see more adventures like these, as long as they don't always focus on just Sonic and Yuta, and they don't become formulaic.

It really makes me wonder why more people aren't calling this out. Sonic is written like he is in SatAM as well.
Tails is just as much Sally Tails here as he is elsewhere in works written by western writers.
I would not be surprised if the mangaka grew up watching SatAM, this feels heavily inspired. If anything this gives greater credence to the idea that SatAM did air in Japan, which limited evidence supports.

I don't know why people keep comparing this to Sonic X when unlike Sonic X, which was primarily centered around Chris, Amy, and Tails as the protagonists with Sonic as a major supporting character, this manga actually has Sonic as a proper protagonist. I guess because Yuuta is a human companion of Sonic? But that's a really surface level comparison. By that logic the films are like X. By that logic Nate Morgan makes Archie like X.

I don't like Sonic X, I'm a huge SatAM fan, and this manga really appeals to me for having a windnic depiction that's very alike SatAM.

Even the 'trying to find a cure for crystalization' stuff reminds me of SatAM since SatAM would often have episodic plots with the excuse of 'oh, the protagonists are trying to find a cure to roboticization'.

This also proves Slashy right since this is basically whonic. Whonic works well. Sonic with new companion characters in episodic tales works well.

Legitimately, yes. Being a "forgettable, to-the-point Sonic" isn't a bad thing per se. Games like Riders or Rush Adventure aren't exactly award-winning plots, but they (and BoC) know the story they want to tell, do so without second-guessing, don't rely on other games too heavily to reinforce itself, and don't drag it out. It's better than being offensively unable to commit to your own conceit like Toyoda's Forces, tonally inconsistent like Pontaff's Lost World, or maddeningly plodding and self-referential like Ian's Frontiers.

I consider Imada the kind of "steward" I'd want until a firm direction for the franchise is decided on like what SA1 and (regrettably) Colors did.
