Pretty much all the playable game characters can reach the speed of sound. Especially the Advance 2 cast who all have Boost Mode. Within that, based on Advance 2, Tails doesn't start using his tails until he breaks the sound barrier. Up until that point, he is running the whole point. Frontiers does a similar thing, actually.

The issue with Sega acting all smug to Nintendo is they're still a company an will follow the trend of making games more expensive but unlike Nintendo Sonic doesn't have the track record to justify higher priced games. Sonic doesn't have a great track record in quality in general and trying to pull the "Sega does what Nintendon't" era advertising again will only lead to people using this stuff mockingly in the future. Just like how Sonic made fun of Mighty No. 9 and ended up putting out Sonic Boom.

It took literal years of convincing when they were already falling back in hardware specs when the Switch came out to even start porting over multi-million dollar successes, Nintendo effectively created and dominates their own space in the game industry. SEGA games usually only sale a few million per game if they are huge hits. Millions of buys per game is just another Tuesday for Nintendo. SEGA relies on the revenue they make off of selling their games on Nintendo's market and console. Nintendo couldn't give less of a care.

SEGA publishing on Nintendo or trying to appeal to hardcore Nintendo fans is what screwed us over in 2006, and for most of the 2010s. SEGA breaking away from Nintendo can only be a good thing. The only time SEGA had a successful relationship with Nintendo was in the early 2000s, it has always been awful since.

Mario Kart 8 proves that its never too late to fix a Mario Kart game. Even if the current updates didn't fix the games problems, Mario Kart World is clearly meant to be a game that Nintendo keeps supporting. It was one of the first Sonic games I owned, shortly after playing the genesis titles. I was excited to see Classic Sonic return but disappointed by the lack of Jaleel White voice.

You enter it when meeting that condition rather than using a resource. You can enter it the same way in Adv3 as long as you have Sonic as main/tag, and you can do it instantly if you use Sonic's tag action.
