Even without the disconnects I've never felt a state of pure limbo like this before when playing a private server. It's like the server is in a coma kept alive in the hospital and you have no idea if it'll ever wake up. Nobody is pulling the plug yet so he's still breathing.
But it just makes me not want to get too invested. I got some of my t0.5 upgrades done but as far as bigger goals like completing the chain, getting my epic mount, etc..ehhh I'm just not sure. Leveling alts is probably the right call as I'm still having fun. I just wish we had more visibility into what is even going on behind the scenes. Because the last communication we really had is just "yeah we aren't shutting down the server, here are some bug fixes I guess. There s roadmap maybe? Sure it's probably getting worked on"

It also doesn't install a ton of confidence that I'm sure the Ascension team is way more focused on the success of Bronzebeard. Whether or not they consider Epoch to be a "core" server for their ecosystem, I have no idea. It does kind of feel like they were left holding the bag and are just bidding time to see if players numbers drop enough to warrant them pulling the plug.

I doubt a dev team will ever be formed as months go by without any major updates until player counts are so bad they can just kill off the servers entirely. Giving into the C&D feels more like a performative gesture than a legitimate one with each passing day. Sounds like the Epoch team just wasn't able to deliver on promises and wanted an easy out to completely quit the project.

Hey Epoch crew, it’s Dutch with a update. Our incredible dev team lead by Gaytotes, full of gay and transgender coders who made our server work so well have had to leave the project. Since then its leaving us with a codebase sadder than a creeper in the rain. I tried bribing them with virtual tacos to bring them back secretly, but no dice.

As a result, Project Epoch is currently deader than a skeleton in daylight. The dreams of epic raids? On hold, like my sanity trying to debug this mess solo. I’m still here, poking at the code with grim determination, and we’ll rise again... one day maybe possibly with a different launch. You are missing a key ingredient. I am playing on Guru, which means that a lot more chaotic and random interactions can happen when you're also dealing with enemy faction players. You can help them out. You can have tense standoffs with them. You can get ambushed by them. They make the world feel more alive and breathe engaging gameplay into what you might consider mundane in a carebear server.
