If you get an SSR on the first 10 pull of the beginner banner and then 40 more pulls on it it's possible you will get nothing and also have no pity progression, whereas if you pulled 40 times on the standard banner and got nothing, you'd be guaranteed an SSR in 30 more pulls.

According to all the reroll guides I saw before playing the game, they said you get a 5 star at the 50th pull. Some were specifically saying that if even if you get 1 or 2 before 50th pull, you'll get a free one at 50.

Then, some sources like Prydwen were saying this got nerfed just before launch and that you lose access to the banner as soon as you pull a 5 star (i.e. on your first 10 pull). We didn't know this before we started playing at 8pm PST.

However, my friends and I were stumped that we didn't get a 5 star on the 50th pull (although the banner did disappear after that). It turns out, the nerf was, if you pull a 5 star anytime before the 50th pull, the guarantee goes away.

Not sure if this is common knowledge or not, but just set your expectations!
