There are two systems:
The 120 rolls is just a spark but only works once. You do 120 rolls on the banner to redeem a copy of the character regardless of whether you get her or not in those 120 rolls. This is basically the 200 ticket spark in BA but only 1 time.
The 160 rolls guaranteed system works in parallel with this. You get the banner character in after 160 rolls. If you get her before that it will reset. If you get standard 5* characters it will NOT reset.
So the worst case scenario is you do 120 rolls on Chitose without getting her, you can spark her and then on the next banner you only have to do a maximum of 40 rolls before getting the next character. The base rate for the rateup is 1% instead of 0.6% or so like in BA so it's way more likely to get 1 copy in 160 rolls.
