Meta decks are objectively not fun in Yugioh. Every single one of them is a giant mess of repetitive tactics that only work because they made them so unbelievably OP.
For real, every single branded card has completely different triggers and effects and set ups that makes the deck really rewarding and difficult to pilot even before the new support. While Maliss works by “Get banished get tons of value” on the second or third effect. Mitsurugi is “Get Tributed get tons of value” on the second or third effect, and then the “Show Habrikuri”. Ryzeal is a bunch of kinda unique special summoning mechanics and then the second effect is basically “starter/extender”, all for the board of one really overpowered XYZ, a really dumb field spell, and whatever generic Rank 4 floodgate they’ve used this time. Yummy is somehow even more repetitive than them despite having the widest possible potential, since all of them are just link-1 crap without any real counterplay besides going first and removal spam. All of these meta decks were designed for retards to win. Branded has a completely different audience altogether. And Konami seems to know this somehow.

Blue eyes tyrant? It's there to swing and kill you, it doesn't really transform into anything else. The Rank 8 Azure? Same thing, it's meant to hit the field and play it out. Boss monsters are supposed to be important.
