only the kektor, the rest are really mediocre. only real saving grace is drums but 1. drums on anything but a machine gun are gay and 2. they aren't enough to salvage the fact that 9mm is a bad round against the armour in play. something like 43-45 pen would always make sure you can penetrate the original gimp masks (alternatively just remove the gimp masks from every class but enforcer like they should have done)

Actually, every controversial aspect of tarkov really comes back to the idea that you lose everything when you die and by extension your entire stash can be reduced to 0. And the means by which you die are a single bullet, you'll die so fast that you have no idea how/why it happened if you're new. I can't think of a single modern multiplayer game that comes anywhere close to that. And on paper people say they want that, but they don't want to be the ones doing all the dying. People complain the most about two aspects of tarkov: the cheaters, and how esoteric and "wiki-oriented" it is. In both cases these are fundamentally related to the fact that you lose gear when you die, and that dying comes very easy.

Cheaters: every fucking game has them. Every fucking single game these days, but when someone cheats in battlefield and kills you, you just respawn in 5 seconds and it doesn't matter anymore. Or you just leave the match and move to another lobby. In other comp games maybe your ranking gets affected by the loss of a match, but those scores often have guardrails in place where movement in either direction isn't very significant once you've found your "home". But cheaters in tarkov can actually take your shit, so it's more frustrating. But the more interesting part of this is how quickly you die, and with so little information. Since people are super upset when they die, and have no idea how, it's easy to blame cheaters.

Wiki: I'll agree that tarkov is a wiki game, the quests are basically made with wiki pages in mind. But again this relates directly to the extremely low TTK and the high stakes on death. But allow me to make an argument: no matter how immersive and well designed the quests could be, people would just read the wiki anyway. Everyone has this pie-in-the-sky concept of what a "good" quest is in gaming, but even if the traders told you some super cool and immersive instructions on how to get to the quest spot, or did something neat like call you on a radio in-raid to guide you where you need to go, the fact that tarkov's stakes are so high means that people aren't going to risk taking time with the immersion and will just wiki where the objective is so they can beeline to it. Given the stakes, people want perfect information on the task before they do it. The only think in-game that could match a wiki would be to add a fucking quest-marker on your HUD like skyrim, and that's just aids because it pollutes your HUD. Same goes for all the game maps, it doesn't matter if you could press M and pull up a detailed map of the area, the best option will still be to have it open on a second monitor so that you can play AND look, and don't have to make sound opening the map. Just saying that given the high stakes, those tools are absolutely a part of the game and the people who don't use them will always be at a disadvantage.

All that said, /v/ just has shit takes on fps games and multiplayer shit in general anyway. So much of the userbase is caught up in trying to be cool so they endlessly suck the dick of oldfag games like quake, UT, and tribes despite never having played them. And if they did, they'd have the same complaints that they do of modern games ("wtf sweats ruined it, fucking metafags. wdym I have to look up guides on how to do tech and learn every autistic detail of the maps"). 1.0 dropping will be fun, gonna be a lot of butthurt

In DayZ and Rust since your shit is held in your base, which like you said will def get raided in some cheap way, it's easier for people to accept that they're going to get wiped out eventually. Tarkov's stash is 100% "safe" so people have the idea that it will simply build up over time, or that progress is guaranteed. I think the gameplay of tarkov too makes people compare it more to your typical multiplayer fps than to open-world survival/crafting games. I've never played ABI but the little map page you can pull up is nice in that you can click on shit for descriptions. But it still requires you to open a menu, which means you aren't able to watch for enemies. Why not have the map open on your second monitor and just glance over at it? I can't tell if ABI has a little marker that tells your current location, but I don't think tarkov should have that. The map displayed should be totally static, and just list where the extracts/spawns are.

For better or worse, it's a game where you need to pay your dues. If the learning experience itself and finally overcoming the odd that are stacked against you isn't fun for you then it's probably not a good fit. Adding onto this, there is a point where you can realize what mistakes you made, or sequence of events that resulted in your death. It's not easy to check your ego when you get shit on, let alone be able to then objectively look back on what happened.
I did a raid today where I killed Reshala at new gas, and I lost my arms and stomach from the fight because I was sloppy, and I was too slow looting so a guy came from the dorms, caught me up close, and could tell exactly where I was positioned due to my making noises in pain. Lost the fight, and everything leading up to that fight contributed to my disadvantage.

In fighting games, experienced players will tell you to save your replays and watch them when you lose; sometimes you just get shit on, and being able to see the small details of a match sincerely helps you improve. You can do something similar in Tarkov, if you want, but eventually you'll simply be able to recognize the conditions that resulted in your reasonable death.

Quest took longer than expected, but was pretty funny. No game is so long that you can't get a decent amount, and then you just keep going. 100 kill quest took me like 10-12 matches or so, so that's a lot of time firing an assault rifle

Why the FUCK are dailies in Arena on a 24-hour refresh from when you log in, rather than resetting at a particular time each day regardless of your (lack of) input? The way it is, they WILL slip further and further, quickly making the reset time fucked up and guaranteeing you miss days. This wasn't an issue in the main game.
