This never happened.

I was in FMC and got help through all my attuned from the guild, and helped at least a dozen more attune as well. We were constantly running dungeons even when we had AQ40 cleared. Towards the end people definitely gave up. But up until the last month the guild was always really helpful.
So what happened to that mentality, anons?

There's no point not to. It's an easy way to help out new players and meet new people. It isn't some monumental task. If you're geared you can solo or at least duo attunes. It helps out your guild in the long run. I don't understand why helping out guildies is somehow controversial in this thread but it just reaffirms my decision to not join <Evil> for the umpteenth time. As though the GM of that guild getting into a flamewar with a troll which inevitably got him doxxed because he's too dumb to use more than one name online wasn't enough. Or taking two days to clear MC only to give their loot to pugs. It's just baffling.

Silkfang is the one that outted Supplies as the Dwarf poster in /heals/. Supplies posting fairly innocent screenshots of their character in /heals/ where he flirted with tanks while keeping his name out of the thread, and Silkfang outted him right after the shit with Helios (which Supplies was a part of).
When Aecheur found out, he tried to capitalize on this and pretend as though Rackbride and <Branded> were to blame when they had no part in it (as confirmed by Supplies, who flat out said he'd never spoken to or even run into anyone from that guild). Aecheur even made a /wpsg/ thread where Supplies was the OP.
In the end Supplies stopped posting in /heals/ and did his best to keep his head down to avoid more harassment. I don't blame him. When your own GM is getting involved with trolling you, it's not worth it.
But Supplies deserved better. He's a cool anon. Fuck you Silkfang, and fuck you Aecheur. Faggots.

The long version:
When Epoch first launched, it had over nine thousand players ready for some FRESH. No exaggeration.
Realizing this might be bigger than expected, they announced a second realm that would release with the first. A PVP realm. That would be enough, right?
Well, because they didn't know how to run servers, neither server could handle much more than a couple thousand players at once. Even with two realms, this meant less than half the players could actually play.
And for the ones that could play, the server had hundreds of known bugs still in the bug report. Many were listed as being so bad they shouldn't launch.
Eventually, a dev unassociated with the project sees the Titanic has hit an iceberg and decides to help. He joins the team, helps increase the maximum player size for each server, starts working on bugs, and does his best. But he's really just got a bucket bailing out and already sunk ship. Finally, the plug is pulled. But all is not lost. Project Ascension steps in and agrees to host the servers. Then Blizzard steps in. They hit Turtle Wow with a lawsuit, and then the next day hit Epoch's server owner with a cease and desist. Epoch's server owner is in a country where Blizzard can take serious legal action against him, so he immediately steps away from the project. With the owner and dev team away, and with Ascension focused on their own Bronzebeard Classic+, Epoch is abandoned. It still launches. It works to this day. But every projected date for the release of new content and new raids is missed. It effectively is a situation that the server named Vanilla+ underwent, where it promised so much new content yet after the launch never delivered on any of its promised updates. Meanwhile, Turtle Wow puts out new updates with new content. New zones, new dungeons, and so on. Bronzebeard Classic+ also launches and is a huge success. Player's interest in Epoch dies slowly as numbers decline. A server with over nine thousand players is now down to a couple hundred. The /epog/ thread slows to a stutter, kept alive by an AI softcore porn spammer, before finally disappearing from this board, replaced effectively by /bbc+/.
And that's the story of Project Ascension, a server that was in development for three years but died in three weeks.

The answer to that is quite simple: Blizzard has gone after Project Ascension. As with Turtle, they've sent multiple cease and desist letters, as well as using the DMCA system to take down social media pages to decrease their ability to reach others through advertising.
But if you mean in terms of a lawsuit, the reasoning for opening a lawsuit against Turtle Wow and Project Ascension are privy to Blizzard's legal team, but it's easy to speculate:
1) The real world identities of some of Turtle Wow's team was much easier to identify, and they were able to find out that Akalix, a high-ranking member of Turtle team who has been a part of the project since day one, was an American based off publicly available linkedin information he provided. This gives them at least one human being they can take to court. In Ascension's case, they have no clue if any of them have a proper venue where they can take them to court. They might all be Russians.
2) Turtle Wow made a lot of recent waves with their UE5 announcement. It was covered in gaming news media, which normally ignores private servers. Personally I think it looks like shit, but in the eyes of others this makes retail WoW look outdated and bad. Turtle Wow is essentially not only offering a market replacement for WoW (which is really bad in a copyright infringement case, as it means damages) but also one that's arguably "better." Ascension meanwhile is just different (although not different enough to be transformative to the point that fair use would protect it).
3) They don't need to sue every private server. Doing so would cost them a lot of money, and while they could afford it, ultimately it's best for the bottom line to just focus on one big one that's easy to crush. This sends a message throughout the private server community that it's a bad idea to run a server. While this by no means will stop all future projects, it will deter some, and that mitigates future damages and loss of profit for Blizzard.

Personally I'd largely get rid of the faction system WoW had, it makes little sense lore wise (WC3 literally ends with both sides uniting to fight a common threat) and the world pvp in WoW was always shit, let people quest and do dungeons/raids together and visit other cities.

It's obviously never going to happen but revamping wpvp in the style of the failed Warhammer mmo would be great, have dedicated pvp lakes in zones separate from questing areas with multiple objectives and a much stronger focus on tactical group fighting and mass battles over solo shit, with capturing zones furthering the pvp campaign of your faction until you eventually get a massive victory that benefits your entire faction heavily so it can reset next month or something similar.

Nah. I don't mind crossfaction but this "get along gang" shit sucks and is a huge gaping festering wound on modern fantasy. Multiple factions are the way to go but they should be at each other's throats. Maybe you can defect and work for the Alliance as an Orc mercenary but you'd never be fully trusted and surely shouldn't be able to saunter around their cities.
