No. If you're damagemaxxing, you can already easily and reliably reach 100% crit between Deadshot and Surgical blessing, and both boltgun and bolt pistol have access to it. If you're maximizing theoretical damage, you want Marksman's Focus, which also gives you more rending to annihilate carapace with.

Take the melee bleed node and put weakspot damage on bleeding targets on the knife.
Drop the reduced aggro node, and put that point in Deadshot. It's already good enough with the slow firing recon las, and infantry las is even slower. You might not even need Tunnel Vision for stamina, because your build is very tight on points already, and I'm not sure I'd want to drop anything for it.
Also Ghost is probably not needed when that could be Infernus to let you melt bosses and bulwarks.

A small amount of rending helps the boltgun kill carapace more than you might think, and 10-15% is as cheap as 1 point depending on where you are in the tree.
Seriously, try it out yourself in the psykhanium.

Tried out the power maul in havoc, damn this thing is honestly really good at making space. The moveset isn't terrible, but I do wish the strikedowns did more damage outside of special. The reworked special also feels really, really slow. But it gets the job done. Certainly a lot more impactful in terms of damage than the wet pool noodle it used to be even with the special attack. Might be my new favorite havoc weapon besides the branx

It gets marginally better in auric, where people will generally try to be respectful and cooperate. It's rare that I see ammo or medicae jewing. On the other hand, aurics are heavily populated with retards that clearly don't belong and feel entitled to being carried, or are okay with being corpse dragged through the level, or think it's somehow normal or even acceptable for a team to have a dozen deaths (not just downs) per mission.
You'll still know whether a game is about to go to complete shit within the first 1-2 minutes, however.

Smite has better damage than you might think, with EP. You can combine it with shriek for soulburn, but the smite meta is scrier's.
A good smite psyker I'm not trying to start an autistic argument about smite psykers not being able to be good, but relatively speaking, smiggers that don't go down every 3 seconds do exist tends to deal competitive damage on the scoreboard and usually has the most trash kills.
It's still obnoxious, but it is effective, and definitely not useless, just slow.

Smite does slow things down, in part because it more or less disables reactionary talents and blessings (on dodge, on damage taken, etc.) but I personally find that most of them aren't even that important except for maybe Precognition, but 2s on dodge is grossly unreliable anyway. Dodge talents being one of the bigger talking points against smite just tells me that most of those complainers are drooling sword retards.

Turning the AI off by stunning everything, and making the game boring for that reason, is obviously completely valid. I don't mind the occasional smigger, but having multiple of them in a day does get irritating.

NTA but smite is good in havoc, as long as the psyker isn't a pussy about pacing. It's "better" for really slow and careful crawls, but I think that playstyle is really gay. I don't much like spending 50 minutes in an otherwise 30 minute mission. Smite can indeed deal upwards of 800k damage, and usually sits somewhere in the middle for damage contribution.

I believe it because it's pretty obvious when you pay attention to it. The uptime mod made it easier to track, and that also sounds about right with my uptime for some arbites talents (which is the only thing I've bothered tracking).
But do keep in mind that even in this very general, we used to have some retarded autists obsessing over Precognition and its ability to one-shot crushers, when in any practical scenario, the blessing just doesn't fucking trigger reliably enough to matter.

Weapons Specialist + Deadshot to really crank your crit rate.
Rending Strikes makes a huge difference for your damage against armor, as does keeping Uncanny Strike up on your melee.
It's bad as a shotgun, and barely fills its intended role. You don't use it as a shotgun, but rather as a ranged aoe cone that applies bleed stacks. Due to the way darktide handles shotguns, the bleed just goes on everything within the cone, at any range.

You go to the armory and just buy bases until you get one with stats you like. You'll end up spam buying several hundred thousand dockets worth. Make sure you remember the number at the top right to find it more easily after you get unlucky and have to buy like 40 of them, since they're sorted by rating.
As long as you have and are willing to spend the resources, you can get perfect rolls nbd.
Also 80s + 61-62 are a display error caused by rounding and thus not actually inexplicably stronger, the 80s are actually 79.6 in this case.

It's comparable to the bully club, with having its special come out on top as an oh shit emergency knockback button, and I prefer its moveset to the bully clubs. The special is slow and even though it has a special heavy follow up, it's still better to just do the light attack unless you have plenty of time and open space to edge out that extra damage against a lone target, otherwise you're going to eat shit with how deceptively long the windup time is. The impact helps you do what you are supposed to do in havoc, making space and babysitting your retarded vet or your psyker so they can do their job outside of popping out the occasional rumbler shots.

Unless your team is incredibly low DPS which is a bigger problem in itself, you aren't really going to be shitting out damage with added rending on the power maul enough to be a noticeable difference, as opposed to keeping everything on their asses I feel like it's a waste of a blessing when the latter is significantly more beneficial to keeping your dudes alive. I think it has a respectable amount of innate cleave and killing power so brutal momentum isn't really required.
The cooldown on the special is also fairly long so I don't see a reason to waste a blessing on it such as supercharged or shockwave.

In my own experience, I perform best with the weapon I'm more comfortable with. But I never perform good on a veteran in havoc, so I can't say.
But on arbites, even though boltgun is better on paper, I perform better with a bolt pistol. I see veterans with recon las, boltguns, bolt pistols and plasma. Oddly enough, plasma became very rare lately (probably because of bad breakpoints) and recon I see the most.

Zealot is in a weird spot right now. A lot of what used to carry the class was insane cooldown reduction, but that has been absolutely gutted and left to rot. You can now access all of the grenades, and tax nodes are mostly a thing of the past, so the tree is a lot more open, but unfortunately there isn't much reason anymore to spread out because the cooldown reduction is now mutually exclusive.
In practice this means you're weirdly struggling to deal enough damage some of the time, unless you're running some really high damage meta weapons, and even those are unimpressive. You can run around decapitating hordes with an optimized relic blade build, and the arbitrator without a skill tree will outdamage you by firing his shotgun 5 times.

All of that being said, chorus is still an incredible ability, being able to take stun grenades without tax is incredible, flamer is still an incredible weapon outside of retard pubs that don't shoot snipers, and zealot still makes a very powerful support in havoc. Not being forced to take tax nodes lets you take better survivability than ever. The only concern in aurics is being able to cleave through dense hordes in the current event, so some builds aren't as good as others, but relic blade felt good. Overall I haven't felt underpowered or anything, but compared to other classes, it feels like the damage just isn't there whenever you're not in FotF or stealth.
That said, I don't use martyrdom, which is pretty powerful now. I just don't like aurictards killing me with a burster to the face and ending the run because the carry went down = zdps = team gets overwhelmed.

NTA, it depends somewhat. The most retarded part about the quoted skill tree is suggesting frags, which are completely fucking pointless in havoc now. Other than that, the melee focus is actually somewhat viable in havoc, because a good power sword user really does cleave through a lot of shit quite well.
The main issue about melee is the sheer point cost, and WS being the nearest keystone, and being dogshit compared to the other two. You won't end up having the points to justify grenade upgrades, which means you're likely just going with smokes. Melee smoke vet is a good build, you just kinda need to fit your team around it. Obviously still shoots okay, but no longer has to, because there's no bubble to protect. Smokes are very good!

You are correct that the veteran should be shooting things, and that building for your last resort is fucking stupid most of the time. You can also squeeze out more (predominantly ranged) damage by dropping the entire bottom right, even if there is a lot of crit and damage there.
The reality check here is that if you're a melee vet, I don't want you in my h40. If you're not shooting shooters, you're dead weight.

Test in the psykhanium whether 15-25% rending is enough to make Infernus burn relevant against armored targets. I believe most monsters have an armor value on the body, which I'm pretty sure where burn deals damage, so rending should be good. +5 stacks does translate to +37.5% finesse and better uptime, but I don't know any relevant breakpoints on the laspistol, so I can't give a concrete answer.
Maybe you can afford to drop a point elsewhere to just take both, but since you're already a heavy crit build, investing in the bottom right is actually pretty good with knife or dueling sword, so ymmv.

If psyker and veteran are the strongest, and a good BLO rumbler ogryn is not only powerful but also a good force multiplier for veteran, it's zealot or arbitrator.
I'm not really confident which one desu. Both classes have really, really bad players that are autistic about adjusting to any changes in the meta and the new patch. Arbitrator can build for fuckhuge damage but isn't much of a team player outside of shock mines, and LW mines are a crutch for bad teams, as good teams don't need shock mine regen. Support zealot has utter dogshit players usually, and damage zealot is very niche and arguably quite weak.
From an all-encompassing meta perspective, I'd probably give it to zealot, not only because the class has suffered the most from the recent patch(es), but also because it has the worst players overall. It's still my most played in havoc and I can confidently say that it's definitely strong enough, but most zealots I see just suck cock.

Also as far as tiering is concerned, psyker and veteran are probably in a tier of their own before the power gap, but they do practically require the "lower tier" classes to make space for them. Out of the space makers, ogryn's rumbler build also deals enough damage to almost carry a run, and if the fourth isn't fucking sleepwalking, they can make plenty of space together.
I do think a good zealot is more useful overall than a good arbitrator, but a bad arbitrator is infinitely more useful than a bad zealot, because all they have to do is throw shock mines.

Honestly, the biggest difference when it comes to good vs bad players has got to be veteran. A bad veteran is just an aurabot and just about a dead team slot, while a good veteran can be run defining, as long as you buy him some space.

Zealot's horde clear is fine if you go with relic blade, but not necessary either in a good team.
Flamethrower is most useful for spreading brittleness and mass-suppressing everything, but it horde clears well, too. The main concern is ammo. Vet aura is sufficient for support. If you need it for damage, your team sucks, or the director is spamming trains of monstrosities.

Most auriclets retardedly freeze up when a daemonhost exists in their vicinity. Add the usual overall lack of awareness, and pinging then running past it is completely lost on them, and they end up inevitably bumbling into or otherwise aggroing it, then blaming the team when they inevitably die.
It's usually clear relatively early on in a run when a team is going to be too incompetent to deal with daemonhosts. Whenever that's the case, if your build is capable of killing it reasonably quickly, and/or you have +1 player that's remotely capable, killing it is often safer.

If I can bother with another question, which grenade do you prefer? I used to always stick with krak, but lately I've been using shredder as lately I'm finding people are dealing with crushers and alike well and quickly (often I throw it like a second too late so the big faggot dies or is about to die anyway). Shredder while I don't love it, seems okay as like a way to get small bit of breathing room as it has decent damage (for trash), knockback and stagger in a decent radius. And it bleeds too which I personally don't care for, but I'm guessing this can help teammates with bleed passives (like Ogryn I think can take less damage per nearby bleeding enemy). I'm guessing smoke is still a joke or to grief teammates?

Frag grenades are possibly the best choice up to auric, because just deleting a bunch of enemies outright is incredible. The bleed is actually the strongest part, but 1 grenade doesn't cut it, you always need 2 to stack enough bleed to be relevant. They work best with rending on your tree, and/or Uncanny Strike on your melee weapon, because the rending from that blessing works on your grenades. You already identified that they're good for buying space.
Krak grenades are a solid sidegrade in aurics because they also delete bosses, but your ranged weapon should be able to deal with them unless you're running a specific build that can't. They're also the objectively superior option in high havoc, where frags are basically trolling.
Think of smoke grenades as shield grenades. You use them almost exactly like psyker shield. Put it down, stand inside it, become almost ranged immune. They're very, very strong in havoc where people are actually smart enough to play around them, and completely fucking useless in any difficulty below that because your teammates are also completely fucking useless. Kraks are theoretically better, but not having to run bubble is also good, and shriek is very strong. The main issue with not having kraks is that the current havoc modifiers are turbo cancer that kind of require them. Let's hope next season isn't krak season, so smokes can really shine.

It really is as simple as thinking of them as psyker bubble. You just take "I wish there were a bubble there" into your own hands and tossing a smoke there, then stand inside it (since you can peek out the edge. Inside of it also works, but you obviously can't see shit). I don't see or use smokes enough to know how well they work against flamers or bombers, but they obviously don't actually shield against them, just presumably fuck with their AI. Also dogs can't see through them.
Their two biggest strengths are being indestructible unlike bubble, and practically being on a shorter cooldown, at least in havoc, where the 5% grenade refund triggers all the time. If your team kills fast enough, it's not even unrealistic to be inside of smoke 100% of the time any shooters are allowed to exist.

In havoc 40 I've found going high to be weirdly safer than going low, because you have more room to maneuver. It depends somewhat on the director's spawn seed. It's true that upstairs shooters can become a problem, and retards might fall down, get disconnected from the team, and die, but downstairs is ABSOLUTE HELL if the director decides it's time for fire and/or bosses.
