they are meant to be build-enabling alternate enhancements to create strong synergies with specific mechanics like unleash, rage, etc
but the way you get them is by beating close to penultimate difficulty in the game, something that can only be done on strong characters

it's cool that we're getting more builds but shitty that the only way to access them is when you're completely burned out on the game

Why would anyone do that? Mamba is a fine starter, lategame you are squishy as fuck compared to other better builds, and your AoE is "ok" at best. Sure the prolif feels nice, but if you actually played it, you would know how annoying it is to hit once, kill a wave of mobs, just to have a bunch of new mobs spawn on top of you that are unaffected by prolif.
Its an A tier mapper, a C tier bosser. Meanwhile wanders were always A+ tier in both.

It also takes almost 0 investment to put brittle or something on your boots, and you could also use a sap/scorch shield.

Doesn't detonate unless you've spent at least 1 FULL SECOND in the Thunderstorm.
Its one saving grace is that you get 30% More AoE every quarter second, so you can kind of just walk through the enemies and it should pop when you're on the outer curve of it.
