On the topic of lesser known things, if you experience temperature spikes or slowdowns on your outdated computer that you haven't gotten around to updating then it's highly likely that the game changed your settings to higher than they should be.

Go through all your settings again and manually change them to something else then the option they should be. Like for example, if you want your Visual Effects at "Average" then change them to low or high then to average. Do this for every single setting and leave DLSS for last.
This is an old bug from beta that I tried to report but it seems they haven't fixed yet, consider sending a ticket if you want to see it fixed.
