For anyone who plays SOP:
Is the dlc balance for this game supposed to be absurdly bad?
Starting from Bahamut difficulty and above, everything one shots you and you do no damage regardless of your gear level. And the gear dropped never provides enough stats to overcome the base stats of mobs in the higher difficulties.
I find myself just playing a fresh save on Hard difficulty whenever I want to come back to this game because the higher difficulties are extreme feast or famine where you either get one shot and take minutes to kill a boss or you break the game with some infinite lightbringer immortality build. I got to rift floor 103 with this before getting bored, tried going back to a regular build and it was impossible to progress.

Honestly this would be fine but the devs had this retarded idea to lock the true ending and a bunch of extra missions/bosses behind Lufenia difficulty. I've tried tweaking the game with cheat engine to find what exact stats bring back the NG Hard difficulty experience but can't really figure it out.

FF4 Ultima is extremely tedious and the endgame is designed around swapping between gear with resistances and the Cursed Ring for absorption and stacking Shell/Protect/Slow and so on endlessly. Even set to the lowest speed, enemies get 3 - 5 turns for every 1 turn each of your party members get. Double that for Cursed Rings. I've played the SNES (and PS1 port), GBA, PSP, 3D remake, the Pixel Remaster versions and a whole bunch of other mods and romhacks, and Ultima is the least fun I've had playing the game. I don't understand the praise after 30 hours.

The first time SE every said anything about its sales was an earnings report where they said it and Foamstars were both disappointing. I think it's a game/series that was flawed fromt the start. A game should not be remade into three separate longer games. While the gameplay is great, the story can't decide if it wants to be faithful to recreating iconic moments, to shake up everything familar to act as some sort of sequel or pseudo reboot. Because I could easily criticize a masterpiece like Final Fantasy X to the ends of the Earth if I really wanted to. Linear maps aren't a bad thing in my eyes, that's tied to the story. The extended introduction tied with gated progression wasn't what I would have done, but in the context of the narrative, there's justification for it. And once the training wheels are off on Gran Pulse, it's an extremely satisfying system to play with alongside a huge power spike. I didn't think the story was confusing either, it's one of my favorites in the series.
