Genshin hit number 1 here but sensortower is likely underrating its performance. It extremely likely did significantly better then this it got screwed by Flins releasing during a Tencent app sale storm in CN and releasing during big pokemon txg and monster strike sales, and debut estimate is a big factor in these estimates.
IQIYI is a very steady app in CN that consistently ranks 6-9 in China when there are no crazy app sales happening. It was at these numbers for 20th, 19th, 18th, 17th, 16th, 15, 14th, 13th, 12, 8th, 7th, 6th, 5th.
But Tencent dropped a huge mass app sales during Flins banner and iQIYI dropped all the way down to 16 as a bunch of tenecent apps leaped up in revenue. Flins landed at 12 on th mass app sales day, iQIYI which again is constantly around 6-9 dropped to 16. The point is Flins got ahead of an app that was consistently 6-9 on a normal day, which suggests on a normal day he was a 5-8 rank debut in CN and this is without battlepass revenue(overwhelmingly goes to first banner), without chronicle wish (Lauma got this boon during her banner) or the new wonderland mode(with purchaseable cosmetics that got released during Nefer patch).
And in JP IOS(whose sales are ALWAYS on the lower side because Genshin eats a 30% sale tax that other games like HSR do not), Flins peaked 7 when Pokemon and Monster Strike were having huge sales. Under normal circumstances he would have peaked around 5 despite that big tax disadvantage.
So having a compromised first day rank for Genshins two biggest customers was pretty rough for his revenue estimate.
Signs that Flins has been the most profitable Nod Krai character can be seen if you look beyond first day peak in CN and JP.
