You’re throwing around statistical terms in a way that doesn’t actually support your point. A sample of 250 rolls is not enough to “prove or disprove iid” for a Bernoulli process, especially when we’re talking about something like a hidden mercy or soft-pity system.
250 trials can give a rough estimate of the average drop rate, but it tells you almost nothing about the structure of the RNG. You’re acting like checking the overall success percentage is equivalent to testing independence. It isn’t. For a Bernoulli variable with p = 0.1, the variance over 250 trials is huge. You can easily get anywhere from 8% to 12% (or more) and still be inside normal fluctuations. Most commercial soft pity systems are tuned so that you’d need thousands of samples to detect them with confidence.
You also can’t “prove iid” from frequency data alone. Even if the overall drop rate matches 10%, the process could still be non-iid due to streak-breaking, bucketed probabilities, or any other time-dependent adjustment. These would only show up through pattern analysis, not raw averages.
So no, “n = 250 is enough to prove/disprove iid” is simply incorrect. It’s enough for a ballpark estimate of the mean rate, nothing more.

You’re taking OP’s binomial math at face value, but OP is misapplying the binomial model and drawing conclusions it doesn’t support.
OP’s formula only applies if every attempt is independent with fixed 10%. That’s assumption he starts with, not one he proves. Using P(no drop in n runs) = 0.9n is only valid under that assumption. So when he gets “weird” results, all he’s actually shown is the real system doesn’t behave like a simple IID Bernoulli with constant p which could equally be multi-reward weighting, loot table batching, internal seeding, bad sample luck or his own methodological bias, not automatically the drop rate is ldifferent.
His 50-runs isn’t statistically shocking. He says has probability 0.75% under the IID 10% but if the system isn’t IID then the model he’s using does not apply. You can’t reject a system using a formula that assumes the thing you’re testing.
His method for “controlling variables” is actually biased by swapping weapons every 3 runs, he’s breaking the per-weapon distribution the game is probably using. If rewards are per-weapon or per-letter pool, he’s resetting the context constantly. This guarantees streaks. Even if the rate were 10%, testing subtle non-IID behavior takes far more than 50 or 250 samples.
His results are well within variance for small-n testing. You can’t infer a hidden mercy system, a hidden anti-mercy system, or incorrect stated rates from that data. OP’s conclusion (“maybe the % starts lower and climbs”) is just one of many hypotheses and not supported by his data.He hasn’t ruled out simpler explanations like multi-roll aggregation logic, weighted choice of golden candidates, server-side period batching, rate-limiting to prevent duplicate generation, or normal variance.
His method is basically assume the system is IID 10%, nbserve a streak and conclude the system isn’t IID 10%.
The observation contradicts his assumption, not the game’s stated rate.

You’re still missing the core issue. Getting p ≤ 0.05 on a hypothesis test doesn’t magically let you “prove or disprove iid” from 250 samples unless the effect size is very large. Statistical significance doesn’t mean the model you chose is correct only that within that model the observed deviation is unlikely. If the model is wrong or incomplete, the inference is meaningless. That’s exactly what’s happening here. Your test requires specifying a correct null distribution, but with a game system you don’t know conditional dependants, constant probabilities, pooled tables, shared state of retries, seed variances, or intenral weighing. If any of those are true, a simple Bernoulli(iid, p=0.1) null is invalid — and any p-value you get from it is invalid too. As for the “run test”: yes, runs tests check for some forms of non-randomness, but they have extremely low power for small n and for processes that are only mildly non-iid (like soft-pity, rate adjustments, bounded streak-breaking, batched loot tables, or correlated RNG state). A run test with 250 observations can only detect strong serial correlation — not the subtle mechanics games use. Failing to detect correlation ≠ proving independence. Hypothesis tests don’t let you jump from test didn’t find structure to system is iid.
That’s the classic error of accepting the null instead of merely failing to reject it so your “n=250 is enough to prove/disprove iid” claim still isn’t correct. At 250 samples you can test crude deviations, but you can’t validate independence or rule out non-iid structure. The power just isn’t there.

The element system is just really poorly implemented in general. It wasn't enough to make the strong element deal 400% damage, nope--they had to make it so EVERY OTHER ELEMENT deals half damage! I decided to test this by bringing a weapon to 100% crit chance only while affected by Prismatic Neon. For this test I chose to use Rendhusk for its range and 25% base critical chance. In order to crit every hit we would need 300% increased crit chance on Rendhusk. Using wedges I was able to get 230% increased crit chance, bringing us to 85% total crit chance.

In order to reach 100% total crit chance, we still need 70% increased crit rate. I used Daphne bot for another 40, and the rest would have to rely on Prismatic Neon. I made sure that only MC had Prismatic Neon equipped and summoned them, which caused the debuff icon to appear under the enemy (from quite a large distance, I should add. Possibly global?).

The result was over 50 shots fired from Rendhusk without a single non-critical hit. You appear to be correct.

Most of my mons respawned after the 48 hours mark, but a little before the 72 hours mark. I started doing my rounds on tuesday at 08:30 am, and they reappeared today at 07:30. That's after waking up, so I don't know the precise timing.
Also, last time I had this same mon behind the waterfall and now it's the shiny variation. Not sure if it's just a coincidence or if it's just a fixed chance for it to respawn as shiny. I also had a random boxie on the fortress last week, but in the next respawn it wasn't there.
