Here's how this works:
>4 month long tournament, spanning from the 7th of September to the 18th of January (20 rounds), with the Top 4 Finals taking place on the 25th of January
>new participants can join the tournament at any point in time, just sign up on the tournament page
>a single round will be held each week
>BO3 matches and we're using a very basic leaderboard system, match wins and byes net you 3 points, match losses net you 1 point and no shows give you nothing
>2 no shows in a row will result in a disqualification
>matchups will be randomized each week, as allowing new players to join all the time messes with any automated round systems
>The randomized matchups will be announced in the thread each Monday and the matchups can agree on the time and date of the duel during that week
>you are allowed to change decks between rounds
>you can do Genesys (or any other format of dueling) instead of Advanced TCG if both players can agree on the terms. The Top 4 finals in January will still be Advanced TCG only, however.

Giga Rays already exists and he beats G hard. G must destroy the monsters it banishes, meaning that, unlike Giga Rays it can't remove cards with destruction protection and needs a very specific card to be summoned, whereas Giga Rays only needs any 2 monsters from your hand and/or field. As for his "wombo combo" his most optimal play is "Summon Dragoon". Which brings me to the 2nd problem with G: It started out pretending to be a retrain of Yugi's exclusive cards, but it IS just DM support. Especially considering that Gandora is supposed to represent Yugi trying to step out of Atem's shadow, this is an insult to the archetype.

1799 Duelists are gathered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this weekend to compete in the first YCS since the latest Forbidden & Limited List update took effect! Cards that dominated the Top Cut at the recent YCS Anaheim, like Archnemeses Protos and Artifact Mjollnir, are now Forbidden, and Duelists will need to adapt to the changes in order to triumph this weekend. In addition to a new Forbidden & Limited List that took effect on October 27th, 2025, new cards from THE CHRONICLES DECK: The Fallen & The Virtuous (All-Foil Edition) released on October 24th gave a boost to the Branded strategy.

Mitsurugi, Yummy, K9, Crystron, Onomat, Ryzeal, Branded, Dracotail, and more strategies have all had success in recent YCS events. While the newest Forbidden & Limited List Update affects some of the cards used by Decks containing those strategies, it leaves the core of those strategies entirely intact. As a result, many Duelists this weekend anticipate that Decks using those themes will continue to prevail, and chose to compete using one of those Decks.

The impact of THE CHRONICLES DECK: The Fallen & The Virtuous (All-Foil Edition) also cannot be underestimated by Duelists trying to win this weekend. The Fallen & The Virtuous and The Dragon that Devours the Dogma – the two new cards from THE CHRONICLES DECK: The Fallen & The Virtuous (All-Foil Edition) – boost the strength of Branded strategies built around Fallen of Albaz, including those incorporating the Dracotail strategy. Although Branded and Dracotail strategies fell short of the Top 8 at YCS Anaheim at the start of October, Joaquin Pojagni won YCS Sao Paulo, Brazil with a Branded Dracotail strategy just a week later. While the exact positioning in the metagame of Branded strategies, Dracotail strategies, and strategies that combine the two themes is up for debate, the release of The Fallen & The Virtuous and The Dragon that Devours the Dogma undoubtedly makes Branded Decks stronger than they were in recent YCS events.

Still not enough because Hermos can redirect attacks to it and by banishing the Magnet Warriors it can prevent its destruction by battle once, then redirect another attack. Dartz has to eat through 40 cards just to attack over Hermos in this context. With a starting hand of 5, the 3 cards out of his deck when summoning Shunoros, and drawing across like a dozen turns.

Dracotail Decks are the most popular, with a mix of Branded and non-Branded builds all showing up at the Top Tables. One Dragonmaid Dracotail Duelist is still performing as well. Next we have Mitsurugi Decks, with Mitsurugi Yummy as the most popular build, along with Ryzeal and pure variants. There are multiple Yummy, Maliss, and Sky Striker Decks of varying styles, and we see K9 popping up in a ton of different strategies. Minor changes like Hero to HERO are fine.
Cards that were never relevant like Darkfall or Wattkid make sense to just directly change.
When Slime Toad or Sky Scout got renamed some autists thought it was a disappointment so even cards that aren't really iconic it is generally "better for PR" to not rename, perhaps.

The game design did change in Arc-V and with Pendulums being the face of the era they did take the brunt of it but to be frank they were not largely the problem. Decks like Shaddoll, Kozmo and Nekroz were the huge power creep and while Pepe outshined them all I think it was built off of essentially taking the things that those non-Pend decks did but to a larger extent. Then the late Pend era had Zoodiac.
Yeah there was also Qli and True Draco but they were more toxic for the stun aspect of the decks than the Pendulum integration.

I was more talking animation studio production. Gallop and a lot of its associate studios were attached to NAS. When ADK/NAS left, they left too (makes you wonder if Noh Gil-bo is still around). Meaning shueisha/tv tokyo had to recruit Bridge for animation production.

As for what happened with Rush Duel being made. I do think it influenced that. Shueisha and Tv Tokyo being even more important to yugioh's production probably led to all kinds of marketing and tone decisions.

Doesn't matter much now. Master or Rush duel anime, tv tokyo isn't about to step aside. We might get better animation quality in the future though.

Gallop's primary function was being the organizing studio, it takes way more than one studio and a few directors to produce any show.
