As far as I know WormNAT2 is good enough to hide your IP since it's using a HostingProxy. The other option is using Hostingbuddy which hosts for you but doing it through commands is a huge hassle.
You should be good with just WormNAT2, I've been hosting for years and nothing has happened so far.

How do you make those custom falling particles in the back? Does everyone need to have terrain/some mod installed or just the host and the rest downloads when connecting? Wormnetlet here, I only played this game hotseat in my whole life

Those are custom terrains, they come with the custom particles. You'll need to download wkTerrainSync (https://worms2d.info/WkTerrainSync) and place it on your root installation folder.

Then, download the custom terrains you like (or have them be auto-downloaded if you join a host that loads them) and put the folder with the Level.DIR, text.img, and Water.dir in your Worms Armageddon/DATA/Level.

After you have all that enabled and installed, right click in the map preview to go to the map settings and you'll be able to pick the terrain (or press alt+click in the random terrain generation to generate a map using a random custom terrain | you can also hold shift to get the same result but with base-game only terrains).

And that's pretty much it. Have fun lad.

Worst case scenario you just have to reinstall the game if it were to be needed but since it's no DRM that's a very low chance of being the case (backup the User folder so you don't lose maps/banks/schemes you might have saved in that case).

It's from an old replay, back when the latest W:A version was v3.6.31.0

As far as I recall, /teststuff was involved, and there was a wk macro module that let you spam Space+Enter super fast. So basically, by spamming Space and Enter at the same time, it let you drop petrol bombs and shoot ninja ropes at the same time. Not sure if it's still possible.

Here's another webm with that wk module, but this time it's enabling parachute with Enter and disabling it with Space. It's done so quickly that you can't even see the parachute.

The color palette on your map must be higher than 64 colors, check this https://worms2d.info/Colour_map#Colour_limitation

To fix it, depending on the software you are using to make the map you can limit the palette to 64 or compress it after you're finished. You can also run it through one of those online image compressors and tell it to reduce it to 64 colors. Give it a try and see if it works.

WMD is probably the second best (2D) game after Armageddon. I really dislike vehicles and the overall aesthetics though. I am actually playing it on and off to get all the achievements but after that I probably won't bother to ever play again, I got too spoiled by WA lol.

If you're looking for something even more different, give Worms 3D a go (the PS2/GC/Xbox one), it has a PC version too but I've found it easier to just emulate.

Ultimate kinda fucked up the terrain destruction, physics, and overall aesthetic compared to 3D, The controls also feel much more stiff in WUM and if you try to play it on modern hardware you'll get mad at just how painful the mouse sensitivity is and how it largely varies betweem menu and gameplay, it's really frustrating.

Dolphin is probably our best bet if we wanted to play together, considering it's a turn based game, latency shouldn't be that important, especially considering Dolphin has a "Golf mode" that lets you change the host or whatever on the fly to reduce latency or something like that I'm no Doctor in computers.

The other problem with Worms 3D on Dolphin is that, if I recall correctly, the game only checks for input on the player 1 port since they designed it as a hotseat with 1 controller and apparently don't allow you to use ports 2, 3 and 4. Changing all these every time a turn is up is probably really bothersome, maybe somebody modded it to work better though, haven't played in a long time.

To be honest 5 ropes in a 8v8 worm match is not a lot. If you go check some Inter matches on TUS you'll see how they generally play out. You really have to keep your stock of ropes with you because endgame is brutal.

Way back when I made a scheme that was basically Intermediate but with Girders for movement. The settings allowed to be able to place a girder AND attack in the same turn, I playtested it a bit with anons and it was fairly sucessful and dare I say, fun.
I kind of lost the scheme with the changes I made to balance it out but the gist of it is like so

>Regular Inter rules
>No ropes (or 1 rope)
>Shorter turn time, probably 30 seconds
>Played on Open Islands
>Limited but large quantity of girders(?)
>Shot doesn't end turn, however you can only use a weapon once, additionally you can place a SHORT girder as a free action during your turn
>May not trap a Worm using this special girder*
*didn't playtest this rule yet.

I think it could help ropelets not be at a natural disadvantage, while maintaining strategy and skill, promoting good shots with a little crutch to help positioning. The only issue I see with playing such a scheme is people not following the rules, intentionally or not, and how severly a rulebreaker should be penalized.

I'll try to host it so we get some data on it and can balance its rules and weapon selection. What do you anons think of this?
