Reinstalled BF1 & 2042. Was happy to find BF1 has plenty of my fellow shitters on it; had a good time screwing around on conquest but hoping I can find some "In The Name of the Tsar" operations matches during prime time because it looked like mostly vanilla map shit by the time I got on.

Gonna try out 2042 again to see about the dlc weapons because I havent played it since launch, but I'm really not looking forward to playing the launch maps.

Could never get into BFV for some reason, I dont understand how they fucked that up so badly.

Can someone tell me the difference between the Elite Edition and Standard Edition of 2042?
I'm getting it because it's cheap ($5) right now for standard or $12 for the Elite edition.
But if the difference between the two is minimal anyway I want to get the cheapest one obviously.

What I know is that people are saying to not get the Elite edition because you can unlock everything in the standard edition anyway. All I want to know now is how hard is it to unlock? Is the unlocking as hard as it was in BF1 where I haven't even unlocked all the specializations there because of how specific it is? i have been playing a lot of bf1 recently, haven't really kept up with the series since battlefield 2 & 3

i dont find bf1's gameplay to be very "battlefield"... there are a lot of maps that are essentially just small, narrow corridors divided into chokepoints, and you're lucky to see any vehicles

i hate multiplayer sequels so much mainly the third entry to stuff. It distinguishes the men from the npcs. Often times sequels will have major flaws npcs won’t bother to see through. EA is NOTORIOUS for killing off games right around when they become playable/enjoyable

BF1: Discontinued updates right after the gave got a good set of updates and balancing patches.

Battlefront 2: Discontinued support the minute they realized they couldn't cash in off gachapon shit and left a nearly perfect game to rot.

Battlefield V: They released the pacific update, added new armies, weapons, balanced the TTK issues and then fucked off instead of building on the success despite having an all time high player base.

So they'll probably start closing down servers for BF3 and BF4 in the coming years like they did for the OG BF2, possibly after the next Battlefield comes out.

Jets felt like an afterthought in BF3. The very fact that you had to grind for updates with mid-air combat in order to start using bombs was fucking retarded. In fact the entire unlock system of BC and beyond was stupid as fuck. BF2 at the very least just had one unlockable and it was quite easy to get for each class.

Redownloaded BFV and only playing Pacific maps once again. I missed it, it almost feels like I'm playing a true BF game. It's so high testosterone.

But being limited to only like 3 maps gets boring pretty quickly. Iwo Jima kinda suffers from BF1 retardiness seeping into its design but still not as open as BF1 maps. AA is a big danger to planes yet they are not invincible, I like it because it stops a 500 level no-lifer from dominating the game but it is still fun to fly a plane and strafe people on the ground. Map design for conquest mode is better than previous games, it's very hard to spawn camp and stop people from leaving the spawn, they always find a way to get into a vehicle and capture a flag near other side's spawn. Breakthrough is a total meat grinder at times and it's very easy to lose badly (whether as the attacking or defending side) due to some idiotic teammates' choices, I'd prefer the old rush mode instead desu. Feels sad that there isn't much to destroy on these maps, maybe some shacks or bunkers and that's it, I know war in the pacific wasn't fought in urban environments but come on. Tanks are done right, they can blow away stray infantry or wreak hell from afar but gets easily swarmed when it gets too close to groups of enemies, despite having 2 or more machine gun seats.

BFV Pacific is a much, much superior addition to vanilla BFV, I can't even play vanilla maps.

ultimately it comes down to what you're looking for. 2042 is a horrible battlefield game. But if you're someone who likes that Apex/CoD style gameplay; you will really like it. Biggest reason I think it falls in the "A bad BF" category is because of all the gadget, specialist, and other designs were very poorly managed. There was extreme inbalances. Not just between the specialists themselves, but also the vehicles (land, air) and between infantry. It seemed like whenever they fucked something up balance wise, their solution wasn't to balance things to fix it. It was to release something new. 2019 and Cold War gave me this very brief glimpse of why I liked COD in the first. Neither were perfect by any means, 2019's campaign was kind of a wet fart and coop was never fixed, Cold War's multiplayer was janky as fuck and Zombies was a mixed bag, bonding the games together at the hip to make a gayass cinematic universe and Warzone integration made both games actively worse. I don't recall the specifics, but it had something to do with the hackers duping an ea profile and when they join a server, every single player around the world gets disconnected immediately. It's not a ddos attack because you can jump right back into the server after you get kicked. And for the bullshit player counts, that's been a thing for a while. Somebody made a firefox plug-in that adds your browser to the player count, so long as you're logged into your battlelog account on the same browser.

Looks like the queue is not a thing with a password protected server, according to mine and another dudes experiences, and the password is apparently not what is supposed to protect the server but it being unranked(no levels and stats) somehow is supposed to help. 100% serious question: how the fuck do people play these games? i WANT to play them but all the modern (3+) ones give me a headache and make my eyes burn, i can last maybe 10 mins in 3, a few more in 4 and about an hour in 1 before i NEED to stop. i think i've narrowed it down to the sheer amount of blinding bloom (whether it's "baked in" or from the supernova that is the sun in all games) and the dynamic exposure being an instant on/off switch the moment you're in even the slightest shadow (this also applies to mw2019) with bf1 being the worst offender when looking in/out of buildings and switching from daytime to nighttime maps
i've fiddled with the brightness/contrast/gamma settings in each game but never managed to get it right, are there any mods that can fix or alleviate these issues?

I swear to god, if we get another battlefield game with the same movement and gunplay as battlefield 1, I'm gonna physically go in each guy's house who says bf1 movement and gunplay is the best and kill each one of them. I reinstalled battlefield 1 recently and the movement is absolutely brain-dead. I even said "battlefield 1 sucks" in chat, and one guy said "skill issue" while i went 72 - 27. The battlefield lab initiative will be a disaster for the final game ( it's going to be shit regardless since nu-dice had years of development to present a solid Alfa with a strong vision and direction, and all we got was bf2042 with some half assed new assets )

Personally i like battlefield 4 the most, but i recognise it's because it is my most played battlefield game and i'm biased towards it. But i like battlefield V movement too, and i recognise it's less glitchy and more modern (it has the ledge grab and the slide, which are nice to have, but for me they're not essential ). I remember playing bf1 yesterday after downloading it, and there was this spot with a guy hard camping around a corner, and i tried jump-peaking him since i didn't have grenades on me, only to start shooting and see all my shots going randomly all over the screen with my bar, because in battlefield 1 you can't move while shooting down your sight, and you can't jump peak. The only way to peak someone is to walk out of the corner while hip firing, and good luck winning that gunfight against an automatico trench. It's all so campy and slow, with everyone standing around corners or proning down holding an angle. Battlefield 4 and V have the same thing mind you, with people camping corners and proning down with a bipod, but at least in those games the movement permits you to push them aggressively, throwing off their aim. In battlefield 1 you can't do that unless you have a specific variant of weapons, or the other guy is on fentanyl.

I've gotten into BF2042 (and sorta 1 and 5 recently, but it's hard to play 1 and 5 becuase of player count and i have way more unlocks in 2042)

So, interestingly, it seeems almost as if more people are playing 1?

Anyway, I play bf2042 because I want a shooter that just works, but playing blops6 is filled with fucking sweaty unemployed losers who think they're going to be the next ninja in fortnite or some shit. Or worse, actual fucking cheaters. SO I hop onto bf2042 and it's nice. It's a nice change of pace it's fun.

That being said, I'm not convinced that the next BF game will move units. You know, there's no obnoxious fortnite skins, there's no broken movement and shitty netcode to make bad players feel good and like they're good at the game, snort adderrall before playing and shit like that.

Do you guys think a new BF game will be successful? I'm not so sure.

I got all 3. So far V has actually been insanely fun surprisingly, at least on tactical modes. I wish they'd make a spiritual successor to BF Vietnam. It probably seems extremely dated to people now but back when it was new that game felt amazing. Even just waiting for the match to load listening to all that amazing music just absorbed you into the atmosphere so much.

The only big factor I can see there is that LMGs might not see use with other classes because having your movement speed gimped tends to be annoying. Just watched jackfrag's gameplay, it looks pretty good so far. Unfortunately he didn't showcase a lot of weapons. A few things I found interesting about BF6 is that engineers can carry both a stinger and an RPG at the same time, and apparently supports can heal people now.

Also, I think the move to make support the medic class is interesting, but I actually liked BFV's change of making medic the short range class with the SMG (until those dlcs that let them have rifles again). It was always very, very strong for medics in BF games to have long range weapons and self healing abilities, but now they get LMGs. Another feature I've observed from watching gameplay is no revive after being headshot. Last time we saw this was in Battlefield Hardline. Also, death animations are very seamless, in first person it looks like you're falling over dead in the direction of your movement. Pic related is an ability I saw support has.

Are the armored vehicles turn rates locked?

I actually enjoyed the game a lot. My only issue is that it feels somewhat hard to kill enemies at medium range even with the AK. Game really seems to push you towards using shorter range weapons like the M4 carbine

Movement is much more fluid than older BFs, I do like that. Aiming is more responsive. I do like that you can ride ON vehicles and laying prone and repairing is so comfy. Being able to drag their body to res is fantastic and needed addition.
