Even though Zywoo has basically locked in HLTV no. 1 this year, I still think that Donk is the best CS2 player. Obvious caveats being that CS2 has only been around for 2 years, and also that CS2 is a mickey mouse game without even half the competitiveness of CSGO.
In 2024, Donk not only set the all-time record for rating at an event (Kato), but also set the all-time record for rating at a major (Shanghai), to the point that he would have won the MVP even if Spirit lost to Faze in the final. Valve were literally patching the game to try and nerf his movement. Donk's 2024 was so good that it was not only easily the best rookie year of all time, but also a contender for the best year of all-time for an individual full stop.
