Somewhat more mature but lacking in newer players.
The only drama that happens now is over some players hating each other. It never reaches past drama levels. Pomf is probably the longest-hosting host on SS13 as a whole because every other SS13 host either got into drama or lost interest in SS13 and stopped hosting. The lack of moderation on /vg/ and how much faster /vg/ has become prompted moving it to /vm/ and it's overall been a pretty good decision. The roleplay itself leans closer to LRP-MRP with a focus on improvisation. The bulk of the community activity moved to a Discord server but I wouldn't recommend it because some users have a tendency to tear into people and ragebait, especially if you disagree and argue over things. Better than most 4chan communities I have seen but not really worth getting into unless you intend to play for longer, and don't talk too much.

Poor. Lower pop numbers on average because we do not have newer players. 4chan players rarely try out new games anymore and the ones that do are addicted to the internet (so they are politically loud, maybe edgy, and probably underage) and stop playing because they have a bad experience on the Discord server, the game server is on the hub but it is only pop numbers that bring more pop when on the hub and since /vg/ does not have a lot it barely brings any new pub players. The playerbase is more active on weekends in general but it gets decent pop on random weekdays too.

Yes. Crashes are very rare and probably caused by admins on accident.

Even though the server could do with more pop I don't think leaving it on the hub is going to help. Hubbies are either going to be turned off by the fact that this server isn't another fork of TG or they are just doing griefing tours. I would genuinely be surprised if there was a single long-time /vg/station player who was originally a hubbie and not from this website (or sseth's video).

This weekend, I witnessed the most faggy thing I've ever seen

16 hour shift, three people have been on the entire time making the station as comfy as possible, everything is functioning properly, plenty of room to have impact on the round.

Some guy named Cobra joins as HoP and declares the round over.

When people come in to talk to him and ask him to recall, he hardlines on tasing them and telling them they're being a child or stupid.

When called out on this, he defaults to saying their opinions are meaningless for whatever reason.

Round ends, new map comes up, pop unaffected. This fag just ruined a ton of work for no reason.

I'm of the mind that if someone wants no shenanigans and tomfoolery, they should go somewhere that doesn't allow it.

Loosely bound shenanigans and tomfoolery are what make this server more attractive over others. Let players self govern for the round, if someone is a tyrant every round, or they repeatedly make improving with them unfun, they should start getting ban requests.

Ban requests should not be for something like "clown blew me up when there was no pop"

That gives something for engineering, medical, and security to do. Hell, even having a clown that constantly welderbombs every time he's revived could be incredibly entertaining.

It is so lame when people make a ban request just because they were powerless in a situation, most of the ban reqs I see these days boil down to that.

i don't really have many opinions on the admins aside from that i wish we had a bigger team. the most admins i have seen online at one time is like 2 when an event is running, and since most of them want to actually join in on the round and play the game we end up with people getting away with ridiculous shit and the only recourse is "spend half an hour getting logs and make a ban request" which in of itself is just as much a humiliation ritual as it is for a ban appeal.

I don’t post here much, but I wanted to share logs from Tuesday because I found Yvvel’s behavior concerning.

Summary:
I was sent to the asteroid gulag — effectively permanent removal from the round’s action — for stunning an officer for less than 10 seconds. This is the kind of thing where a 5-minute brig sentence would be reasonable. Instead, I was shipped off to a location where I had no meaningful ability to participate in the round unless I found a way back.

I asked if, under these circumstances, I was allowed to retaliate with lethal force against the people responsible (note: I meant killing them in combat, not preventing cloning). Yvvel said no. I asked for his reasoning, and he escalated to hostility, belittlement, and eventually a night ban when I disagreed with his logic.

If another player on the asteroid hadn’t gotten me out, my only option would have been to sit in perma or trek through space with no tools, gloves, or access to shuttles — a huge amount of downtime for a first offense.

Why this is a problem:

I had no prior offenses in the round. Officers are not supposed to perma players for something warranting only a short sentence.

As an assistant in the gulag, I had no shuttle access, no door access, no gloves, and no tools — escape would require major effort.

Yvvel’s demeanor was immediately hostile, giving the impression he was trying to provoke a reaction.

I feel like you'll find less issues if you just put down the hard ass attitude and just talk to him and others you have issue with like a person. If you get met with toxic bullshit after giving it a try, don't feel like you gotta cuck yourself, by all means, exert yourself, tell the troll to fuck off.

I know being edgy and inflammatory is seen as the safe choice, but you could just talk to people like a person, express feelings with minor amounts of vulnerability and see their behavior improve, they will want to help you out if you show you aren't an enemy.

Or not, both routes have benefits, but the hard-ass route just means you're pushing away anyone you're not already friends with.
