Pretty much the same QoL stuff as before, added Hammer Mode, Fago's Banner Boost, a few vanity and pet things, main content mods will be SotS and Homeward Journey. Made sure to test post WoF and Moon Lord kills, as well as one boss in SotS that tended to make frames drop but that seems to have been fixed. So they play nice together.
Decided to try an experimental map sharing feature, live updating, but if that bugs out I can just toggle it off and restart the serb.

nothing in terraria that you actually need for beating the game with is locked behind any kind of grinding. any actual grinding is entirely optional.

in my 12 years of playing I have never once needed to grind for anything needed to beat any of the mandatory progression bosses outside of a self imposed challenge (and most of the actual grinding i've done was either really fast and absolutely not "MMO-tier" (i'm speaking as someone who's played multiple MMOs btw), or something I could automate and leave running while I'm away from my keyboard)

just have one significant new boss kill per day (eye of cthulhu, evil boss, skeletron, queen bee, wall of flesh, each mech boss, plantera, golem, cultist/pillars/moonlord, and the 3 post-ML bosses fargo's souls mod adds; minor bosses that don't have significant progression unlocks can be done whenever they're available since no one will want to throttle progression behind deerclops or queen slime or some other crappy nu-boss that's neither fun nor rewarding)
so players have actual time to get good gear and build whatever without stalling things out excessively and causing people to burn out from having nothing to do, which killed the last run's momentum

I beat this game back in like 2014 or so and haven't played since.

I know they've updated a lot of shit but one of my main gripes was that the yoyo was so OP that it wasn't worth using other weapons.

If I were to replay it, I'd just do the same thing I did before and cheese everything with a yoyo.

between FTW fucking with fargo's soul mod's difficulty options forcing us to either play on easy mode (expert) or cock and ball torture (legendary masochist) and multiple content mods not balanced to a comparable standard (dbz being straight up overpowered, gensokyo bosses being ez because they got neutered due to the required expert difficulty so we could feasibly progress on ftw eternity, and fargo's souls having its accessories making bosses from other mods pushovers)

and thus we got to the point where everything would be either boringly easy or frustratingly hard because of interactions between the seed and eternity mode as well as balance problems caused by using multiple significant content mods alongside one that explicitly does not recommend using it alongside other content mods that don't have DLC support (fargo's souls mod), whether due to power level mismatch or people creating multiple game-trivializing builds combining multiple modded items that were fine within their own mods but become brokenly overpowered if combined with stuff from other mods that the modders in question didn't design their content around the combined use of

i think we should really just stick to one significant content mod (and only other content mods explicitly listed as compatible, plus whatever qol mods aren't stated to cause problems with whatever content mods are being used) per server, instead of just throwing together whatever and expecting something worth logging on for regularly every time

Snakes and ladders: you must unbind jump, you can only go up with ropes.
hardmode, you can't go up at all. only way up is going back to spawn. maybe some extra rule you can go up for sky islands but maybe thats part of the challenge.
I can't think of a good name for this challenge but basically you have to kill duke fishron as soon as you start hardmode.
A funny class could be wires/traps etc only.
Maybe some sort of fisherman challenge? Like only using weapons and accessories you can get from fishing. Dunno what you do post mechs though, I'm spitballing here.
Rider: Mounts only, no movement accessories.
Heavy Spender: only use weapons from shops
Fashion Disaster: every dye slot must be a different colour
Lao G: only use items with the letter G in it.
Cosplayer: Character name and vanity must be of a fictional character and you must type like them.
Vampire: You must build and live in a vampiric castle/mansion. You must also dress like a vampire and use appropriately themed weapons (up to interpretation but crimson weapons, pumpkin moon/solar eclipse and blood moon items come to mind)
Also maybe one for using tools like axes/picks/hammers/drills/chainsaws as weapons would be funny.
