Welcome to /vm/abinogi.

Mabinogi is a fun, once popular little old school Korean MMO from 2004 based around Celtic mythology with many different features. Your character can age, rebirth, eat food and gain weight, play and custom make music, and so much more. You can be anything and do anything all at once with no downsides. From non-combat related skills like cooking, tailoring, blacksmithing, trading goods in a commerce, carpentry, etc. to different styles of combat like melee, magic, ninja, archery, puppetry, etc. all on 1 character.

Although graphics and gameplay is still a bit dated, even after 17 years the game is still rich in content such as fashion contests, cooking contest, jousting, playing in or viewing large concerts, training pets, and so on and continues to be Nexon's most generous game.

Mabinogi is a game about making your own goals and accomplishing them. If you start worrying too much about your power in relation to everyone else, then you're not setting real goals, you're just chasing ghosts on a hamster wheel. That's not really all that fun. It's a generational difference, both in-game and out of game. Zoomers only played the post-Blaanid/Master Plan cycle era game. The /vg/ era generations view and play the game fundamentally differently from the /vm/ era generations. It's not necessarily a good or bad thing in either direction, but something to keep in mind. Most more recent players never experienced 3-week rebirths, the old much lower on average power levels, much fewer freebies, slower progression, or even their top tiers of gear that they worked hard on becoming common and eventually gacha-spew tier with time.
My only personal complaint about the state of current Mabi is that endgame content requires a much higher time and team quality dedication to succeed. Some people have active irl social lives and jobs, as well as other hobbies and games to play. As a result they don't have the time or energy to keep up with dedicated content groups that don't really mesh well with drop-in drop-out playstyles. And once they get good enough to carry your ass in content, they almost always end up in better groups that will refuse to accept getting others up to speed or people who can't always be around for stringent times. It's a personal complaint because it's 100% a me-problem and a natural part of adulthood. Not a problem with those who can play more or the design of the game itself.

You don't have a choice. This game is long since past where weapons were near enough to each other where choices mattered. You need a Nightbringer Assault(the only piercing sword outside of Soul Liberator Sword) and a Celtic Royal Knight Sword with +1 set effect enhancement scrolls to get the Bash and Critical Damage set effects to 10.

You can skin them to look the same if that's what your problem is. The problem with twin swords is that they lack piercing and piercing enchants so you need the irusan bells and drobe and other sources of pierce to be competitive. You also only get the pierce from the highest one of your dual wielded weapons so there's no point in using two piercing swords over swords with 2 different bonuses if you can activate the bonuses on each.

If you have 5 rounds of a jousting tournament, in a fair game, you have about a 3% chance of winning (0.5^5)
However, because Koreans always assume that everybody has perfect 0ms ping when designing games, despite being a turn-based game, it's somehow ping based on tie breakers, which I can reasonably estimate as happening 1/3 of the time.

If you have the worst ping in the tournament, your actual win chances would be (0.33^5) or 0.4%
If you live right next to the servers your win chances would be (0.66^5) or 12.5%.

Low ping gives you a 31x advantage over high ping.
I am here to remind you all because quite frankly, most people do not care about jousting but there is a small jousting community and they act like this isn't that weird. It is my sole duty in life to remind them that this is absolutely retarded.
