Nu OG is doing well with 10+ player peaks daily. Edin, the br*tish isles of the east are the main hub for players. The explorer's guild takes on the role of the old Hermes Iniative, exploring and building networks.
After suffering through the first winter, many players fled Edin for Souf. If souf gets a dedicated enough autist to start it, souf is likely to have the next major town.
Edin had its first election, the results will be posted as a OP reply. Some anons go further norf in search of elk and a more hardcore experience.

It's pretty bad. Would be more of a 1-4 player coop than an actual server game. Ruins and islands are pretty much copy paste. The pacing is even faster than minecraft. It (like vs) is already filled with discord tranny lore. I feel like the devs are doing the lore before they do the gameplay.
The ships are okay but have no complexity. Its basically just slap shit anywhere, put fuel in, and it works. At least you can walk on your builds which is nice. The combat looked good in the trailers, the sound design is okay, but its just spam lmb to win. The capybaras being everywhere is weird. Like with PEAK it's a reddit trend.

is turtling in your hut and hiding in a field as you try and farm enough flax the game working as intended or am I missing something here. I'd say I about have my sea legs with basic game mechanics but progression is more glacial than immersive. I'd say I'm about 3 weeks into the world based on my berry bushes not ripening yet. The farming loop seems like it's paced in real world days and requires actual acreage. I know systems like animal breeding are intentional lategame but without a couple mods to repair tools just mining enough copper to keep a pick, scythe, saw and hammer working would take an entire evening; assuming no stalker shenanigans keep you home bound.

You should customize the game to satisfy your needs. Its your singleplayer world, play it as you like.

Rifts and surface mobs are meant to annoy you and make safe areas unsafe and unpredictable. That is the default game config.

For me, it was cool in my first playthrough, now it's just annoying, so I disable both.

My preferred is no rifts, storms or stability, but otherwise unchanged. So when you go caving they're still down there waiting but the surface is less awful when you're just doing stuff around the base.

I find all the lore shit discordant with the survival shit, I get having enemies to deal with but I feel as if it could be done in a better way. Maybe only having them spawn under ground and or during like specific events like temporal storms.

Biomes don't really exist in the game in the same way they do in MC. In VS you have "climates" which are determined by precipitation, temperature and flora density, with the world being roughly divided into cold climates, warm climates, the tropics and arctic.

Grass grows on all soil that isn't barren, so yes. It even grows in the arctic. The reason grass likely hasn't grown because you need to be close by for it to actually do so, kind of like how lake ice might not melt unless you're near it.

Mmh I wonder though. This is literally right next my home and I spend here quite a lot of time. Where you can see the grass it grew up right away, the rest has been like this all the time, I even tried to take out the soil and put it back to no avail. I mean rye is tricky because it's specifically a cold weather crop designed to be planted in colder latitudes where temperatures won't exceed 27C (Arctic/Poles) or otherwise won't heat up to beyond that point until summer. Irl there were a few ways they mixed mortar, but one of the more crude methods was where they would throw it all on the ground, kind of in like a big garden bed type thing, and stir it with a shovel or hoe (perhaps even a mixing hoe).

Any ideas for pre-copper huts? Started working on hut with mudbrick base, cob walls and thatched roof, but I sort of don't like the cob, looks too much like regular dirt while rammed earth looks like concrete.

Rush pottery - at least one bown and one cooking pot; Meals are a godsend.
If you don't mind making hobbit holes - dig into the hill, built the rest with dirt(or cob, if you're feeling like playing more realistically)
Reed basket in a dirt hole covered with hay bale is perfectly fine way to quickly preserve food for a longer while, even meat
Don't run without need - it eats up satiety like crazy
Avoid forests - weak visibility and you can easily bump into bear and wolves. You have too keep your eyes open anyway because you still got beared

Invest in fences (can be made with sticks and a knife) - one block height blocks drifters, two blocks shivers iirc, also block bowtorn bolts
Flint spear one-shots chickens and hares in a single THROW unless you take some meme class. You can three-shoot boars with them.
Torches keep away the rifts
You just need copper tools (like saw for planks) to start animal husbandry. Looks around for more copper bits and the veins under. Don't try to rush better metals because it might take a while.

Hard to say you do a lot of scavenging but most of the base game ruins are quite boring after a while you can learn them quite quickly and there are not many variations. Map quality can also degrade over time because of the way the database is written for it updating only around you when you pass through so you'll have ugly streaking and forever snow yucking up the map. I played a lot of tarkov back in the day but my top 2 games this year so far were KCD 2 and Abiotic Factor so take that with a grain of salt

yeah I just use the object finder overlay mod for that, I have only so much time in life and I'm not really going to waste it sprinting through a forest which just not have even a single hive in it with nothing playing and the volume maxed. I normally switch between survival and creative while playing, mainly if I forgot an item at base or need to dispose of stuff I can just dump it into the creative inventory where it disappears, and it's helpful during construction to test out ideas or do tedious things like roofing without needing to spend multiple days gathering dry grass

No, I go to the gym 5x a week. I do cardio 6x a week. Too much functional strength without roids makes you start looking fat. I've just upped my cardio since I missed being weaker but having abs.
