Exactly what I was talking about. Not gonna pretend everything is good because it isn't, game is in a horrible spot right now with the drama, the sabotage, the awful character releases and the mediocre events.

If they don't get their shit together then I can definitely see myself dropping this in the future whenever newer stuff starts coming out which is a shame because the game used to be really good but maybe they're allowing the fame to go to their heads like hoyoverse.

4th anniversary sucked ass and a lot of the raiders I used to follow for clears and stuff retired or stopped playing. Raid numbers as a whole keep trending down and the overall sentiment for the game seems to be pretty negative.
Everyone was waiting for 4th anni to have some huge changes or great releases that would satisfy everyone but all we got is the worst anniversary we've ever had.

Don't particularly care about the carebear agenda or /bag/'s bullshit about how you have to love everything and praise everything nexon does or you're a meanie. Shits been terrible lately and I really hope it gets better soon.

That said saying the 4th anniversary was worse than the 3rd or 3.5 is frankly incorrect at best, what we did get out of it was good (aside from Lunatic which is what I think is one of the main reasons why people have started not bothering with raids as much lately)

Yeah, Seia finally getting released and the event is just Millenium shit with the absolute worst club in the game. I'm so excited, yipee! Can't wait for another half year of the same shit with none of the problems addressed but I should be happy and just consume or else

I'm not gonna start digging out old tweets from months ago, sorry. A lot of people are starting to get burnt out or disappointed so the fact that nothing really changed outside of the overall quality of everything going down so there's a lot of people losing motivation or just taking a break because doing the same over and over is tiring.
BA was great before because they tried to keep things fresh and kept adding new stuff every year to stop the game from getting stale, tiring or repetitive but they haven't done any of that in a very long while and instead we're just getting drama after drama after drama with 4th anni not addressing any of the concerns at all.

I want to believe it's just a hiccup from the entire dynamis situation that they're dealing at the moment, reorganize staff and deal with the fallout but if it doesn't get better then the game is just going to continue on its downwards trend. Not going to say it'll "die" since it's unrealistic and honestly too big to fail at this point but doesn't stop it from continuing its fall if they don't do something to get people hooked in again.

I'm almost certain it is KV-related hiccups, the timeframe matches almost perfectly (September 2024 was a bit over 6 months ago). But I must disagree with you on the 4th anniversary event, I enjoyed it a lot and it honestly sounds like a personal issue on your side.
I don't know what else they can do at this point to make shit not stale when the game is over 4 years old, they tried it with Set's game mode and we know how that turned out.

4th anni wasn't actively bad but it was essentially just 3rd anni again except without the novelty

actually nvm i think the interactions with other students felt weaker too. for all the complaints about 3rd being the hina show gehenna students in general felt like they got way better treatment than millennium students.

That's not even the worst part in my opinion, it's the toxic positivity culture that seems to be spreading among games in general while complaining about the game has people act like you shot their puppy. Just because I have complaints about the way the game is going or want to vent doesn't mean that I'm going to uninstall, convince everyone to quit or spend 3 years dumping shock images.
Most people simply either want to get it off their chest or complain in hopes the game gets better and fixes their issues because they'll never know its a problem if no one lets them know.

imo another thing that made 4th anni and the current period we're in shit is the absolute lack of main story

The state of Abydos arc is probably due to Isakusan's burnout but what the BA team should be doing is hire good writers because god knows there's a ton of great ones they can pull given their size and brand name then try to get the story back on track.
Simply starting a new arc on whatever school they please would vastly improve the current state of things like maybe continue the rabbits arc, go back to check on hyakkiyako or explore a new school because anything would be better than absolutely nothing.

No? I like Gehenna and even like Hina, but the entire third anni felt like it was directed at newfags, it gave us very little in terms of new writing content even if the new mode was neat (though it got real tedious in the second week)

That's definitely the second half of 2023, between V4C2 and V5C1, iirc. We're currently in a similar drought as the period immediately after the 3.5th anni, except that period had two really good, introspective events from shanhaijing to keep discussion going as opposed to two events that feel like scrapped year 1 ideas. Makes it feel like absolutely nothing is going on.

Okay, so lets assume the writing on the 4th anni event was amazing and extremely engaging for argument's sake. That's all we got then.

3rd anniversary brought a completely new event mode and there was the novelty of walking around as Hina and doing the quests and stuff because it was completely new and unheard of. It also had main story quest, a new PV and other things that had people excited like looking forward to the anime that was happening later in the year.

What did 4th anniversary give us that was completely new? We didn't get a PV, we didn't get a new main story arc, we didn't get a new event mode or event type because the event was just a rehash from last year's and all we really got we could call new was the new Lunatic difficulty that is so out of reach for most players that it only intensifies the burnout because the new content is absolutely out of reach for 99.9% of the playerbase. Am I supposed to be super happy because Rio finally showed up and finally got her event? Does that salvage the awful anniversary that feels like the lowest effort one so far and massive drought we're in right now? Because it really does not for me.

Does the stealth minigame not count for you? I know some people malded over it but I had fun with it, though I guess it's a only subset of the free roam mode. I'll still take it over conquest and the board game, however.
I was ultimately fine with reusing the 3rd anni mode because I always thought it was a cool idea with a lot of potential so they should try it again at some point, and they did make it more interesting this time imo (though ofc you can argue that was their obligation anyway). As for the new story arc, between Deca, V5 and arguably V4, we already have a lot of ongoing stories, so I thought it was logical to finish one of them, especially the one pertaining one of the biggest recurring plots of the game. So I ultimately didn't mind that either.

An anniversary where one of the most anticipated characters since launch played second fiddle to C&C and factually the first anniversary where we didn't get anything truly new. It's somewhat understandable due to the Dynamis situation and the corpo espionage shit but it doesn't make it less bad and I sure hope they can find their rhythm again.

Alright now I'm just gonna have to hard disagree with you. Seia got absolutely fantastic treatment throughout the whole event, arguably even better than Hina did in the third anniversary with all of her interactions and how much more of her we got to see. She absolutely shined.

As a day1 JP player that got into doing Global raids, this server feels so fucking weird dudes.

Imagine going from having to mald every torment raid to a server where you could probably plat with a high ranking ex. No wonder why the global playerbase feels a lot more casual and rarely discusses gameplay, there's literally no reason to ever do torment over there while ins can be cleared while blindfolded.
Also, I guess that explains why global seems to put more focus on PVP? I have my hands full just focusing on keeping up with raid meta and making sure I can do the latest and newest torment speedrun while they can do whatever and still plat.

Global plat brackets are way more relaxed (with the exception of Korea, I guess).
I feel JP way overtightened things when plat bracket became less than top 10% and the only way to compete became copying the optimal strat and macroing clicks. They should've either explicitly set brackets to be a % of participants, or adjusted them way more readily to manage the level of competitiveness.
Now they are in a self-supporting cycle of hiking up raid difficulty so the hardest core has some room to compete beyond single timer ticks worth of difference, which serves progressively less and less of playerbase, but they also can't relax brackets significantly now because the bottom will fall out and people will just not compete at the level that warrants new raid tiers, so whole thing would stagnate until unit power creep catches up.

After several more rounds of bitching, the person on the other end of the line concedes that she's not coming in but There Will Be Consequences. Fortunately for Aoba, she's asleep by this point so she doesn't have to agonize over docked pay or something. (She has a bunch of unused sick leave, but nobody's ever told her this and she doesn't know how to check.)

Meanwhile at the depot, the turntable is still stuck. As a result, there are several trains waiting to leave.

The first train is carrying perishable foods, bound for Gehenna. In a few hours, hungry Gehenna students will cause a riot in the cafeteria. The riot spreads as several groups within earshot start causing more chaos. They don't know what the fuss is about, but they start breaking stuff anyway.

The second train is scheduled for Red Winter. Its cargo includes construction supplies and various sundries, but most importantly- pudding. The riot in the cafeteria quickly joins the Labor Union's protest outside, leading to the third coup this week.

The last train is bound for a department store in the D.U. Among its cargo are limited edition Peroro-sama goods, fashion accessories, and consumer electronics. A line of students has camped out at the store since yesterday evening, waiting for the store to open. They quickly turn into an angry mob when they realize they don't have the new Longcat plush. (Most of them were hoping to scalp it.)

A group of Helmet Gangsters was waiting to ambush the train, and get bored once they realize it isn't arriving. They leave, and rob a convenience store instead. Kirino happened to be there getting breakfast, resulting in several missed shots, ruined bentos, and a destroyed microwave. Backup arrives not long after, and it turns into a hostage situation.

Ending the first half the way they did then having it resolved the way they did completely soured me on my enjoyment of the first part. Meeting Kuzunoha did not remotely live up to years of anticipation. The resolution to Ayame was generic. Everyone, including Shuro, escaping so we can dance the same dance a third time was disappointing.
You have low standards and recency bias, Vol1-3 (aside from 3-4) are all clearly better, 4 is better even if it's a bit weaker than the rest, and I shouldn't have to mention F.

There is no bias to actual emotions being felt while reading.
Pay attention to the story. Even Sensei didn't have anticipation to meet Kuzunoha, because Shiroko healed herself. Everything in the finale with Ayame was 10/10 - Nagusa's delivery as she declares the duel, the chibi animation, the small details showing how Ayame changes led to her losing. Her being happy with losing and accepting Nagusa's apology, which itself had everyone teared up. As for your third dance, I don't know what else to say but read the fucking story again. Shuro is ready to switch sides, so it's possible she's even the protagonist of V5C3. Kokuriko was revealed as one who deeply cares for Shuro, and doesn't really put her heart into chaos and destruction. She said herself that she'd respect Shuro/Ayame choosing their paths and that she'd look at things differently if Nagusa manages to bring Ayame back. As for Azami, she was shown to be a comedic relief, easily tricked and distracted by anger.
Also the second half has Shuro's drawing which everyone and I mean EVERYONE loves.

Atsuko is there because she can't play in a real team. At 4* bond 20 119 M3M5 which I think is the max healing she can do at 4*, she can't heal the radiator to overdrive on the first EX. There's the frame perfect repositions too which is a more common use of repos. You need to reposition to the EXACT pixel or your students will move to the wrong positions so nearly all the top guys use hotkeys for consistency since spending too long trying to get the correct spot is a time loss.
