zzz and wuwa are direct competitors and each other's release being so close together has actively hurt each other's numbers. Even today those two games are constantly getting compared with each other.
It's not a coincidence that ZZZ is the mihoyos worst performing game (not counting HI3 since it's old and before they booked in popularity). And wuwa is not performing all that amazing compared to what it could have most of the time.
They are both still making a lot of money because there is a big enough market, but they are also clearly not doing the numbers they could have without one another.
Things are going to be even worse for Arknights, especially if they wait more, the action gacha market is already very competitive, if they allow games like azure promilia or Anata to release before them, with silver palace releasing probably shortly after Arknights if they push for a late 2026 release, then the game is going to hurt MAJORLY because of it. i already played Genshin Impact and leave it in Sumeru. i really hate the locked zones behind world quests and endless yaping. It's the most exhausting experience i've ever tried. i feel like need a new open-world experience.

Not on wuwa, no. The combat is not designed for it, the character kits aren't designed for it, the maps aren't designed for it, it's simply not the focus of the game. The devs are smart enough to realize it and shifted the focus from: randomly finding a chest under a tree that no one has thought of opening in 500 years, to tightly, focused combat encounters and puzzles. Now you get to actually have fun flying from hotspot to hotspot, instead of running for 5 minutes while watching youtube trying to find the last chest in the area.
You are welcome to play oblivion remastered or fuck around on the desert area of genshin if you so desire, of course, it's a matter of taste.

I'm on Chapter 5 in Zenless Zone Zero. First gacha, totally F2P. It's been good with some quality content but I feel like I could enjoy another one's style more than ZZZ. Should I bother trying Genshin Impact or Honkai: Star Rail or just wait for one of these new games like Anata, NTE, Endfield, Promilia, Silver Palace, etc., and get in early?

Genshin is pretty archaic with no new player on-boarding, you definitely have a few months worth of story content to play with at the very least. Too late to participate in most other content in a fun way though, since it's starting to get balanced around the idea of you having been in the Shartifact mines for two years or more.
Never played HSR since it's just a turn based game, only thing it has going for it is the Mihomo coat of paint and artifacts all over again.

If Genshin isn't your cup of tea, then wait for the new stuff.

I would recommend you to stay the fuck away from mihoyo games, specially since you are a newfag retard and won't see the typical pitfalls of gachas that WILL fuck you over. Not to mention mihoyo games are incredibly low quality despite asking for a lot of money from players, and spending said money on marketing instead of making the games better.

I got interested because the combat actually looks really good, which is something I've always wanted to see autobattlers do. If you're taking away player control, then actually utilize the freedom that opens up to have characters do dynamic shit that would be too much for touchscreen controls. Instead, most autobattlers are complete snoozefests where the animations are really basic outside of ults.

Do see how "well" the first descendant is doing. Turns out that having to grind for 15 to 20 hours for a character, then 5 hours for a weapon, then 20 more hours for 4 extra copies of the weapon, then having to level up and equip the character (which takes another 5 hours), to be able to use them in endgame, only to realize you don't like them, is not fun.
On the other hand, regular gachas only ask for 5 minutes a day for dailies, and thats enough to get the character you want and level/equip them without having to do any try hard shit, and thats enough to use them in endgame.
On those kind of games (destiny 2, first descendant, warframe), you can't do endgame unless you autistically grind for 10 hours a day each season, or drop money to instantly get the character you want. Gacha gamers don't know what real grind is, and they are going to find really soon with DNA, and they are going to hate it. And thats assuming the game is good and not boring.

Of course there are people that love farming the same mission, which lasts 40 seconds, and all enemies die instantly, for hours on end is fun (the most efficient farming on last descendant was doing a circle with Valby, or jumping against a rock with Bunny), but that's a tiny fraction of people, so I don't think appealing to that crowd is healthy for a game.
