I was thinking about buying a new phone and I want to load it up with a ridiculous amount of games. I know that there are plenty of emulators that work very well on Android, but I would love it if you guys could help me make a list of games that have been ported to mobile that cannot be emulated well even to this day. I think a good example would be GTA3. Even though AetherSX2 is great it isn't perfect and I'm pretty sure the native port of GTA3 is much better. What other games have native Android versions? I was also thinking about Bioshock but I think that port was done so long ago that the game only spawns a single enemy to fight you at any given time. Please help me, you're my only hope.

Depends on what type of phone you're about to get. I recommend anything with a Snapdragon 8 gen 1 or gen 2 processor. 8 gen 3 and 8 gen Elite are newer and much more expensive, but all of these chipsets are powerful enough to emulate windows games at decent FPS (720p at low to mid graphic settings.)
If you are buying a phone for the sole purpose of gaming. I would hold out for a tablet with one of these processors so you can take full advantage of the screen size as well.

If you can get your hands on a Lenovo Legion Y700 (2023 model.) You are winning. It has the Snapdragon 8 gen 2 processor which is high end and has been around long enough for the all the program updates and is probably the most optimized. It is also the only model with a microSD card reader so you can expand your storage (except for the 2025 model but that is the newest and will be so damn expensive.)

But if you want a new phone for general phone use too, well then fair enough. Still look at something with one of the Snapdragon 8 chips so you can run any game currently and coming out in the future. If you're thinking of buying an Iphone, kill yourself for wasting my time.

Right now, I'm using a Galaxy A55 5G which came out last year and is a mid tier phone. But its strong enough to run most games and ports i've thrown at it.

You also have to realize that some games wont work on newer phones. Bioshock for example has been removed because it doesnt work on newer versions. Android 15 is the latest system version. But majority of phones are still using 13 and 14 so look out for that when looking at games and their compatibility.

Here are some ports that work great on my Galaxy A55. I recommend using a mobile controller for most of these because thats how these games are meant to be played.

GTA San Andreas - Definitive Edition: Port with upgraded graphics even though characters faces look wierd and loses its soul from the PS2 version. Theres a 60FPS modded version that makes the gameplay smooth as fuck.

Bully - Anniversary Edition: Same deal as San Andreas. Updated Port with more features than the PS2 Version. Faces look strange though. Modded 60FPS available as well

Hitman BMR: A great port for Hitman Blood Money. Updated graphics and controls have been changed to be similar to more modern games if you are using a controller. Tried to emulate this with Aether. Has a bug where shadows show red/green fragments which can be patched if you remove shadows in cheat codes. Still doesnt look right.

Subnautica: Suprised my phone could handle this. Plays exactly how it would on my PS5.

Ark - Ultimate Mobile Edition: You definitely need a controller for this one. Also strongly suggest a larger screen as there is too much shit going on. Works smooth enough on my phone.

This War of Mine: I originally played this on steam from my PC. Games like this is where touch screens come in handy. Wouldnt bother with a controller on this one. Amazing game.

Xcom 2: Touch screen controls are probably better to use for faster gameplay. Although a larger screen would make it a lot easier to not misclick.

Max Payne: Updated graphics to the PS2 version.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I'm not going to buy a tablet because I need a new phone. I was actually thinking of buying a phone with a Snapdragon 8 gen 3 or Elite because I never buy new phones and I wanted to buy something cool for once.

No I'm not going to buy an iPhone and I will probably get a telescoping controller like the Backbone or something.

I also appreciate the list you made. So pretty much all the Rockstar games (so all the GTAs and Bully etc.) probably have mobile ports. Hitman is also a good suggestion. I don't think I want to play Ark or Xcom because there is not enough screen to play comfortably I think. Max Payne is a great choice too.

I also get excited to think that I can run Fallout 3 and New Vegas if get comfortable using Winlater or whatever is the best emulator nowadays.

Thats good news. If you look after it, it should carry you for a good amount of years to come. Whoever is working on winlator and the drivers for it are still ironing out the kinks for Gen 3 and Elite.
But I recently saw a video on reddit where someone had gta 5 playing on stable FPS with an Elite using standard system drivers. So the fact that the Elite can hold up on raw Processing power alone, it will become a monster once optimised drivers come into play.

As seen in this video, you can already play Fallout 3 and NV on Gen 2.

Later on he says he can't get it to run on Gen 3 or Elite but it will only be a matter of time before that changes. Trust, I'm looking forward to it myself.

If you want something hot and ready to play games out of the box then Gen 2 is your best bet when it comes to all the android Games/Ports plus many games you might like to run on winlator. But if you have the money and the patience to wait for updates later down the track or just to trial and error with the driver/graphic settings then I would aim straight for the Elite. Dimensity 9400 is another strong contender as a processor if you want to consider it.

Glad I could help. Sorry it's not a big list but theres not that many ports worth noting, many companies use big name IPs and make a game where its nothing like the original, but a microtransactional gacha piece of shit.
I was real keen for the frost punk mobile game until I realised its got shit like you got so many actions to use before have to wait these amount of hours or watch and this ad to get these many coins etc. Or you can spend actual money to just buy the resources you need and pay to win.
Would rather play the original through winlator if it comes to it

I don't know how good they are, but I think there are also some Resident Evil games on mobile but I could be wrong and maybe they are only on iOS. I think it was Resident Evil Village and the new remake of 4?

Vilage is only on iOS, but you're right. RE4 is on android although I think its just an updated port of the original

If someone buys me GTA mobile or any paid game that I like I won't mind to stream me playing it, I'm not a good talker and only an average player, I would try to mod the game tho

Technically DS games emulate fine but they can have more intuitive ports. Professor Layton for example has remastered mobile ports that I like, phoenix wright too though I haven't tried those games yet.

DS is just as easy as SNES or PS1.
The hard part of DS is realizing that A LOT of Shovelware was released for it in Japan. I had no idea until I went digging for games.

Hey, now I'm here, anyone know where I can get 3DS emulators and games? Many of the old haunts have been crushed by big N.

Well I said that because of the dual screen nature most ports adapt the game to work a lot better on just one, like the ones I mentioned.

You can download emulators off playstore. Haven't touched DS yet, so I can't say which is the best one to use.

Been using this site for years. Can download straight to my phone/device. Has everything from Atari up to Xbox 360/PS3

Use azahar for 3ds emulator.
And google citra 3ds rom for 3ds games.
3ds emulation is basically a wasteland, almost all games have problems.
