This shit is retarded beyond belief if you're making a 3d game and still using such a garbage system. Stamina shit only worked when the gacha game wasn't pretending to be more, when it was strictly on mobile, log in and log out.
These ones on PC using 3d assets and shit are utterly pointless if you can still be restricted by a gay stamina system and can't even use the character you just got for more than 10minutes a day.

With warframe almost everything is able to be monetized, it definitely doesn't just make money from cosmetics. It is hard to understate the level of convenience you can buy in it. The game is really good at breaking people who normally never would into Swiping
It also has its big cosmetics. I have no doubt if this game becomes popular it'll have it's own 200-500 dollar version of "prime warframe bundles" which if they follow warframe could also be farmed in game but the majority of players just buy it because fuck that.

Yes, it's weird because the way it works is that you have a "Charon" MC (Charons are the human characters with horns and basically all the playable characters, they have all the magical powers) and you have a human MC with the two storylines telling a different story from the two opposing sides.
You start off with the Charon story but the human MC appears to you in a dream and the human MC will be the opposite gender of what you picked but then when you get to the human MC part of the story, you can choose the gender of the MC again.
It doesn't make much sense, I think they initially wanted to force you to play both MCs but people were complaining that they didn't want to play as the twink protag so they made it so you can choose either for both stories.

The co-op in this game is gonna suck because unlike Warframe where each frame is designed to be self-sufficient in terms of energy, in this game you have support roles and energy batteries like Fushu who are basically mandatory to have in a team.
Characters need to be redesigned on a fundamental level for co-op to be good otherwise people will just stick to playing solo with a perfect support setup.

They may change it now that it's no longer gacha but in the beta the way it worked was that everyone could use any weapon but would have a preferred type and they would get a small damage bonus if they used that type of weapon. In CBT1 a character's preferred weapon was either melee or ranged but in CBT2 they changed it so each character had a preferred melee and ranged weapon. Personally, I hope they just remove this system.

I do not have faith that they'll retool what were once 4 stars to be the level of 5 stars. They'll be stronger, but not all the way up to par and wont have extensive kit reworks. The only character design I was interested in was a 4 star.
All characters afterwards should be safe given they'll have been built from the ground up to be at the new level though.

It really doesn't sound like you played Warframe. Granted I quit at the end of 2016 but there were plenty of frames that didn't have viable offensive abilities and relied on weapons like Frost, Nova, Limbo, Loki, Nekros, Wisp and you had frames that specialized in weapons like Harrow, Valkyr and Chroma to name a few.
Frames who mainly used their abilities or exalted weapons to deal damage like Mesa or Excalibur or Saryn were few and far between actually.
And as someone who enjoyed Warframe a great deal until I got tired of DE, getting to play with specific weapons or getting to play with a new weapon was just as exciting and fun as playing with a frame.
If anything, my main criticism of this game so far, as someone who played in both betas, is that character kits are too damage-focused and there aren't really interesting utility kits like Limbo.

Not talking exclusively about offensive capability. When i'm talking about upping what were 4 star kits into parity I mean what they actually do. Effects and usefulness. Nekros was my favorite frame in the game up until I stopped playing sometime in 2018 and it was solely because of his summoning and support. I spec'd them to do no damage just so I could have 30 of the fuckers on field with leashes that extended to maximum range back when that was possible. The weapon was the least important part of playing him. The weapon enhancing frames had to have abilities that boosted weapons. It wasn't the weapons themselves. The kits are what differentiated them and that has been my point this entire time. There is a reason energy regeneration shit was always in demand and they had to rework the entire potato child runes to make people stop going for Zenerik exclusively. Frames with exalted weapons were still ability frames for as few as they were, but i'm not focusing on them.

She applies scaling DoT with her melee, she can also summon several stationary jellyfish that periodically deal damage in an AoE based on her damage that also apply the DoT and then she has a big AoE nuke that deals more damage depending on the number of stacks on the target and lastly she also gains attack speed that scales up to a certain number as long as she's attacking.
Sadly, her kit was kinda weak in the beta tho. Hopefully they buffed her.

Yeah, playing Zhiliu was fun for about 30 minutes. Spending 70% of combat watching the same cutscene while being animation-locked wasn't exactly a fun experience but I guess that's what mobile gachatards want.

I think she's the most well received of them. Probably wouldn't change much. Not sure what they could do differently though. Some sort of charge system where after you do the animation once the dragon comes through a portal behind your character behind you for a blast every so often? The portal only showing up when it spawns in, but following you so you aren't stationary? Feel like she won't age well if the animation lock stays and is that frequent.

Picrel's introduction is lighthearted but yes, the story so far is pretty much suffering porn (even almost all the sidequests are either about some tragedy or end on a tragedy or a bad note at the least).

That said, after the first major storyline it does lighten up in a way because the bad things happen to guys, not cute girls.
The devs did expect that there will be people who don't like the story even before CBT1 because during a dev stream they went out of their way to say it won't be all doom and gloom and the story will apparently lighten up when it's outside the Hyperborean Empire.
Although the most recent trailer hinted at picrel's backstory being inspired by "The Little Match Girl" and she's from the Elysian Church so who knows...

They are some of the basic elemental 'mons that just give you an elemental damage buff so it depends on which character you're planning to get first. Just make sure you grab the shiny version.
I went with Zippyro because I'm planning to get Hilda first.
Shroomie is a good choice unless they nerfed Psyche to oblivion because Psyche was the best character in both betas, even after the nerf she got in CBT2.

I have mixed feelings about having colors/dyes be paywalled, leaning towards having them be free.
I get that cosmetics will be one of this game's main revenue source now. However, I think having free dyeing can also be a net benefit to cosmetics sales.
The beta already showed weapons being freely dyeable. I think people will be more confident in purchasing skins/accessories knowing that any weapon can be dyed to fit the look. And if they ever change their weapon or skin in the future, it can be redyed with no additional costs.
Realistically, would people even pay much for some weapon color palettes? Even $3 for some weapon color options feels like a hard sell. I think the amount they'd gain trying to sell weapon dyes won't outweigh the potential backlash. Light spenders would feel bad spending money just for some colors, bigger spenders will feel like each skin has a hidden fee if you want the weapon to match.
Accessories were shown to not be dyeable. Looks like they're already planning to sell color variants as separate items.
Character skins are the one part I think they could consider selling select variants with a different color palette. I don't think skin dyeing was a feature in the beta.
Perhaps they could do something similar to Marvel Rivals. Where another currency is used to unlock a different color set for certain skins. Players can either buy that currency directly or earn it for free from weekly reward/grinding, or a battle pass if they're doing that.

In the announcement stream, one guy brings up the (viewer's expected) question of needing a lot of farming to unlock all the characters. Another guy responds by saying that the AI combat partners will help with that, implying that farming using only them is viable. My guess is that players will be farming manually for at least their first 3 characters and gearing them up. Basically, there are two storylines. One that follows a charon (horned human with magic powers) and one that follows a human from the Hyperborean Empire's military.
The 1st chapter follows the charon, the 2nd chapter switches to the human MC and then the 3rd chapter jumps back to the charon.
When you pick the gender of the charon MC at the start of the game, the human will be the opposite of what you picked but when chapter 2 switches you over to the human pov, you can select the human's gender again, so you can make both of them male or female.
The charon seems to be the true main character with the human pov being more of a supplementary thing although the two characters are connected in some way because the human appears in the charon's dream at the beginning.
There is no romance in the story so far.

Gacha that go full on romance are extremely niche. Because one of the biggest discussion fuels out there is.. shipping. Regardless of with MC or without. People arguing about who with whom is what keeps most discussion going. This is important for live service games that don't have a constant draw via other things. (i.e. esports for pvp games)

If you want romance I HEAVILY recommend to not bother with live service games OR anything serialized. Try out visual novels. Or anime that only have one or two cours. I can recommend Sing me Yesterday for the latter (Yesterday o Utatte), or Making Lovers as a VN.
VNs are kinda dead by now, but there's a fuckton of solid older works by now. Ironically gacha killed them, though gacha don't even offer a similar experience. To ensure fights such as the first one don't happen, where it goes on for too long. Not sure if that guy was intentionally dragging it out, the audience likely didn't enjoy watching one character smacking a boss for 15 minutes. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them went somewhere else because of that.
You wouldn't expect the participants to really understand the combat system. Most of them spammed the melee basic attack chain and probably used the skills sub-optimally. Some characters are also just less suited for a solo boss battle. So you set it up so that anyone can still get a reasonable time just by spamming melee. Unfortunately, they did not account for a player skipping the (very visibly indicated) stun attack, twice too.
The Phantazio and Rebecca player also demonstrated that the stun move is not mandatory for this boss at the very least. I think the Rebecca player was also the one that got the best time. You'd probably also have 2 party members summoned for boss fights like they showed towards the end.

Hard to tell if ranged dmg deals less stun since players here barely used it. Though we could see that Psyche was able to deal a big chunk of stun damage at the start with her resonance weapon mode. The Sibylle boss fight in the prologue showed the assault rifle doing a decent amount of stun.

I was in cbt1 and 2 and the only viable ranged weapon user was Hilda with her signature grenade launcher but she was one of the best characters.
One of her abilities is that she instantly reloads her ranged weapon when she dashes. Her grenade launcher is very strong but has like a 10 second reload so she's literally the only person who can use it.
There were some other decent-ish ranged weapons but they got heavily outclassed by the stronger DPS skills/resonance weapons.
Melee is not very good against single targets because the way melee works is that you have your charged attack which deals more damage depending on your combo level (a maximum of 120, I think, but I don't remember for sure) and that charged attack is your only source of real damage with a melee weapon. So the idea is that you build up your combo on trash mobs and then kill elite enemies with your charged attack but against bosses, melee weapons are shit because you can't build your combo level.

Unlocking a char isn't all there is though. A simple rework of introns into refarming the character adds at least another 6 hours to max that out. Character shard costs for intron could easily be scaled up if they want more playtime or to incentivize buying the shards directly.
Then there's also weapons and demon wedges, both of which also have their own levels. If you have a lot of characters then you'll likely need to acquire a wide variety of them to gear up your team properly.
Cosmetics is their main pillar of monetization now. People aren't going to buy skins for a character they don't have, and they'll unlock fewer characters the longer it takes for each one. Easier to make people spend more on dress-up when they have more characters in their collection.
It's very possible that ~1 hour to unlock is a boosted rate, but I expect the actual rate to be lower than what some might think. The monetization model incentivizes having players trying out every char and liking many of them, over having players carefully consider which ones they want to invest in and unlocking only a few.

My personal guess:
-~5 bucks/30 day sub making the game a lot more playable, like free quick travel instead of paying a little bit of "ingame money", and higher drop-rate etc.
-10-20 bucks battle pass providing a skin and some general mats you'd otherwise need to grind
-direct purchases for characters and their "dupes" becoming more expensive as you get more of them. This is all farmable but would require more and more time as well.

Essentially a model that gives spenders things early, and whales complete versions of characters to brag with for a few months until the low spenders /f2p catch up.


Personally I think such a system would be much better than gacha, because it removes the RNG from the equation. Bad luck will always lead to people complaining and shitting on the game, while high dupe versions of a char are out of reach for any low spender that isn't willing to take major sacrifices.
This way people can just get jealous of whales having something special early but they WILL be able to get it eventually which makes it also more interesting to look at what it actually does. Most people don't bother checking what a maxed dupe version does because it'll never concern them anyways. Hard to brag if nobody knows what your whale toy even does. The old intron system is 1 dupe per level because realistically that's the only unit you can use for dupes. You can't obtain a fraction of a character and 2 characters for 1 intron level is way too much.
We can't quite assume it will be 30 for all levels instead of say 30 for first level, then 35, then 40, etc. Especially since I would assume that getting a "dupe" from infinitely farmable character shards is easier than earning enough to pull one from the gacha. I wouldn't say "gameplay", it's design vs 3d models which are both under the graphics side. My guess is that it's the result of her being part of the base roster. Tabethe's art to me suggests something in between the small chars (Truffle, Fina) and medium (Psyche, Rhythm). Leaning towards small of course.
However, to make her noticeably larger, they would need to make modified animations for every generic action, including all the weapon types. So instead of doing all that just for one character, they use the same template as the other small characters and put the work towards something else.
Maybe some post-launch chars can get that special treatment, or if they decide to go back and update Tabethe's model. I'd imagine that the people that pay for skins are also interested in seeing some variety in body types.

Stamina system is also removed. Switching the gacha system away from chars/weapons isn't just a single change in a vacuum. The rewards for activities will have to be adjusted. Rate boosters might become a thing now. Some timegating might be added elsewhere so that nolifers can't grind out absolutely everything by week 1.

The betas were all on PC and they showcased the PC client on TGS even. It has full controller support, DLSS and other stuff that anons shared links to above.

Game doesn't have Gacha shit anymore unless you count relics as Gacha. There's a cosmetic gacha but we get free rolls for it, there's guarantees and likely be able to farm stuff.

Yeah, it's pretty much RNG. You get a relic, hop in coop and open them with 4 others.
All 4 relics open at the same time and you can choose which of the results to keep so if someone in the room got something really rare and yours got dogshit then you can decide you want theirs and everyone in the room leaves happy.

CBT2 implemented a bad version of relics that required too much Stamina (Back when the game was still a gacha) to open and everyone complained about them. That was probably one of the many reasons why they decided to just remove the gacha elements and go full warframe.
I hope removing Gacha and adopting alternative ways of monetization works out for them though, I'd like for this game to succeed so other games can also decide to remove the gacha and we can get more proper anime games and less gambling games on the market.

Pets. In the CBTs, you could go around the world capturing them for your collection. Each one has a different passive for your character and you could only equip one at a time. Of course, this knowledge is from CBT2 but they've overhauled the game and changed a ton of stuff so don't be surprised if it's different for live.

Adding onto the other reply, each Genimon also adds an active skill while equipped. In the official Discord English #q-a channel, someone posted the effects for all Geniemons from this event. (+ some others for those curious)
Summary is:
Lumi - Lumino / Deals dmg in AoE and reduces enemy dmg dealt
Zippyro - Pyro / restore sanity
Dripplet - Hydro / Temp atk buff
Equinex - Umbro / Deals dmg in Aoe and inflicts additional attribute-based effect (unsure what exactly this is)
Shroomie - Anemo / hp heal
The part before the backslash is the Geniemon's associated element. The passive skills for these event mons give a slight atk boost for their respective element.
Hard to say which active effect will be the best, especially when things could be different on launch. One option is if your interested chars share an element, just pick the one that boosts that.
That person mentioned that shiny ones have an additional trait slot. Idk what it does or if it's still in, but seems like shinies will have a slight functional advantage.

I wouldn't stress out too much over selecting one though. This is a pre-release minigame reward. They're not going to put a highly impactful decision here of all places. It's almost certain that these become irrelevant as you approach mid-end game and/or it will be fairly easy to acquire the other ones you didn't select.

It's a big number for most other games. If you look at the skill details for chars from CBT2 though, this game just has big percentages in general.
For example, this is Lady Nifle's 1st skill, which has no CD (like every skill) and a pretty low sanity cost. Meanwhile the geniemon active shown has a 20s CD. There's a lot of other factors to consider for a proper comparison but the main point is that a 468% dmg modifier is not actually that big in the context of this game.

If you cast the dragon version, it deals the dmg of "Myriad Things Thrive" then a lingering AoE that deals the dmg of "Zhen-Xun Convergence" every 3s. It's actually piss-easy to get Primes since you just use an item you get from one easily-ground mission type in another easily-ground mission type. You can brain off do it in one afternoon.

There will likely still be some form of timegate. One of the alleged leaked post about farming says some characters have their character shards tied to story bosses. And that you can only get a limited amount of them per week.
So if that's true, you wouldn't be able to farm absolutely everything within a week but the regular dungeons don't have a cap so you likely won't run out of something to do for progress.
