Putting my tinfoil hat now, the trailer seemed to resemble more NEO TWEWY (rival teams competing, mobs in Tokyo to defeat, players invisible to the civilians, referred as Ghosts and capable of using magical abilities in slots that can be changed similar to the pins): calling now this was supposed to be a gacha of that franchise but because the executives still hate it, they told Nomura to reconvert it and he begrudgingly morphed it into another Dissidia. Not the first time something like this has happened.

The animations in the videos were just them twirling around the air and had nothing to do with their original animations like OO. They were throwing 5 digit hoyoslop brv damage values right out of the gate.
The outfits do look cute so I might download just for them but I won't play hardcore.

I have some hopes for it that SQEX is actually trying to break into something new, competitive mobile games. The FF fans are such angry doomposters though so it eventually just sounds like it's them doing all the complaining. Maybe it is or maybe not.

Got to move on and accept that a lot of Dissidia entries weren't great. For the PSP 1v1 games, Dissidia had all the release buffs, novelty, great release timing and did pretty great but 012 dipped, and this was on PSP. NT kind of worked on arcade but flopped on console. OO was dying the last few years so shutdown was expected. It's only reasonable to try something new rather than stick to everyone's rose-tinted nostalgia.

So from what it looks like, the game ain't that bad for gacha wise. Ranked is capped at lv20 per ability so that's 2 dupes per ability. 10 URs total for a fully built character. But some UR are character exclusive, right now 1. Of course, if you are using generic URs, you can use it on other characters as well so it won't take too much to build one or two characters for ranked.

I saw a thing ingame that higher ranks have higher caps - bronze has the level 20 cap that you mentioned, silver, I think it's 50, gold I think might be 80, and then from then on it's 99. So eventually/in full release you will need as many copies of your URs as you can get.

I don't know how you typed that thinking it is a bad thing. Other double gacha systems would just make you pull 2 separate gacha types or put both thing in the same gacha. So you'd have to pull more banners or it fills up the pool while giving you less. This is like getting to pull on both while spending on just one.

They literally got NHN to just make #COMPASS again but Final Fantasy flavored which is kind of insane to me but it is what it is. I did enjoy #COMPASS until I hit the top rank where the game actually starts and you start encountering the whales

And breakaway from the Force chain hp/damage inflation race. If they had just snuffed Snowverflow in the crib that only youtubers used then we could have stayed in the comfy late BT+ era.

Opera Omnia had become too bloated due to excessive constant escalation, by the time Rufus and Angeal showed up an average character in order to be viable needed to have minimally:
*all their attacks having to hit all enemies at once
*all their attacks having to deal Bravery damage inter-spruced with HP damage, ending in a massive HP banger
*at least 9 hits per attack but more were recommended
*full EX, LD, Burst and Force extra attacks
*a passive that helped in some specific ways like having an extra attack during the enemy turn or in conjunction with another ally

And then you had to pray the boss of the chapter/event (because yeah, the common enemies had stopped being threats for a long time by that point) didn't had a specific gimmick that forced you to use one character to counter that like Cissnei against Safer Sephiroth.
Everything the game had started with in terms of diversifying characters for strategies had been crushed or simplified too much. I only stuck around for the story (while having to go through the devs' character biases like dunking on Tactics and Rikku fans but instead wanting the entirety of Class 0 and people like Jessie), and Square had the brilliant idea of canning the game before it could be concluded properly, settling instead on rushing things out the door and slap the cutscenes on Youtube.
And considering Ever Crisis is doing the exact same thing on its gameplay, i get the idea it won't be long before we have a repeat on that one instead.

So no, i argue it didn't just needed "a graphics update".

I would have preferred if the release of the characters had been distributed equally. Prioritizing on completing the original games' playable rosters and main villains before moving on the extras like Braska, the Warriors of Dawn or the whole barrage that VII got instead of Red XIII. Class being completed theoretically works, but because of this factor it makes it reek of favoritism. Hell, Jack's party from SoP wasn't exempt of this by being incomplete but including Astos.
I can only hope Duellum has a better idea on how to balance character inclusions. Obviously Clive will be a big selling point like how Noctis was for NT and OO.

If it takes years to get turnaround on approval for XIV and Tactics characters then of course it's easier for a director to approve his own characters. I don't remember that many Tactics characters in WotV for that matter.

That's the excuse they ran with in interviews but i have to question that. Record Keeper managed to have plenty of Tactics and XIV characters, and so did the base Brave Exvius. Unless what they meant was "we need to find a suitable voice actor for each one and we can't just slap one without thinking", which would be even dumber.

Both BE and RK implemented their Tactics characters long before the Tactics FFXIV collabs.
Record Keeper is entirely FFVI sprites with generic melee and casting animations with extra particle effects in Soulbreaks or power point albums.
There wouldn't be anything to approve compared to generating completely new animations, outfits, and poses in a 3D game. Plus there was the incident with the Titan fight and RK stopped doing anything with XIV until Alisaie.
BE probably put some effort into their sprites, but then everyone was boxed into a small part of the screen. Did Tactics get any CGI versions, or anything new after 7*s?

I won't question that Japanese corps are petty.
I've never seen anyone talk about either game outside of 4chan, gamefaqs, or WoW forums so this is all literal-who olympics. But the fact is that Type-0 characters all had fully fleshed 3D animations to work off of except for Kurasame, and they had their director right there to give them extra dialogue. Conversely, only a few XIV characters had proper trusts and even then usually completely swapped classes and animations between game patches.

I do note that there is no Tactics character in Duellum, unless Ramza was in the part 2 silhouettes; and the only XIV character was supposedly worked on by Nomura.
Your real issue may not be "Why didn't OO get a bunch of XIV and Tactics reps?" but rather "Why aren't you playing the XIV game with it's special Tactics expansion?"

The silhouettes were figured out pretty quickly, they are:
>Firion (far right, same sword)
>Onion Knight (far left, same sword)
>Rikku (medium raw left, same haircut)
>Iroha (back raw right, same Phoenix Naginata)
>Balthier (back raw left, same haircut and rifle)
>Clive (front and center, same haircut and sword)
It rounds up the initial roster having one character per numbered game, even if it's not necessarily a protagonist or the go-to popular NPC in case of the MMOs. A bit similar to how OO started.

tl;dr XIV kept reclassing or killing off its characters. Some posts actually bemoaned that OO had much better XIV representation than RK at the time and that OO got Alisaie much earlier.

So XIV was always kind of cursed in gachas.

I'm not saying the game is good nor do I want to defend it, but sometimes we got to recognize player skill issues as well.
