The system is ridiculous, but it's by design. They don't want F2Ps to get anything good, which is why they release small sets so frequently. You can either try and grind out an old pack, or fall behind on anything new. Aside from this pack, every new set has had something that completely changed the game and required you to focus on it if you cared about pvp.
You should be able to trade duplicates for pack points. Or at least exchange them for another card of the same rarity.

Like now that ultra beasts set is 'done', are we likely to get any more cards that expand on the ultra beasts anytime soon (or ever)? - new cards that use the current support, or new supportive cards. Or is this niche just dead in the water now that the set is done.

So what do we think about EG - Jolteon
It may look underwhelming but the amount of early game pressure this thing puts out is insane.
Its claim to fame is that it can curve into 100 damage for 1 energy, you can basically let thing thing wreck havok while you power up another mon

For comparison Starmie ex can curve into 110 damage for 2 energy, and bisharp can curve into 100 damage for 2 energy

In the context of what that anon was speaking and how it is handled in pocket they mean damage on curve. When they say that it can curve into 100 damage they mean that eevee can deal 30 evolve and then deal 60 + the bag for a total of 100 damage. They are proposing that this is the perk of it: a single energy investment that can scale up to 100 in the best hand.

This terminology has been used for a while now. That said, what I don't get is the pointless comparison of Starmie EX or fucking Bisharp lol.

For a single energy investment Skarmory also does 100 in 2 turns if equiped with a tool and if that was a helmet it can even scale to 120 and then there's the rampardos candy 130 damage but you can't open with it proper. Greninja's 120 HP is like the only thing dying to that Jolteon curve and it needs to open eevee ex, jolteon, the bag and froakie has to be in front of something, might as well just go first with zeraora.

It does only use fire. The main issue it has is it loses pretty hard to any deck with Oricorio unless you get lucky and draw both Leafeon EX and non-EX. Not as bad as Solgaleo instantly losing, but still bad enough. Also, bad matchup into Stokezard unless they brick or you get lucky and go second, get enough damage on Charizard to at least revenge kill with Flareon once it kills your lead, and hope they don't get a second one set up.

I have this deck do the solo battles and what happens often is that the AI refuses to lead with skarmory equipped with something dragging the game down with it. It wins around 4/5 of the times, even more so against the current alcremie deck that randomly skips turns just because. If the game starts with Bisharp it is pretty much a guaranteed W.

I wish this had a system that let you burn energies in a single game to multiply rewards. Those AI battles are just a drag but this one isn't as bad as the HP tanks from the past one.

Greninja is the de facto best design guidelines: stage 2 line with single energy attackers for the first 2 forms and 2 energy requirements forth evolution but one of them is colorless so it can mix, has an ability that works on multiple copies of itself anywhere on the field (which lets it attack from anywhere basically) and cheap retreat cost. Peak card design.

The ability is the critical element of its usage but honestly it even tanked a full powered pikachu at full HP so it's quite cracked from day 1.
