Wurmple is pretty much my favorite Pokemon of all time. I started an entire romhack partially to make Wurmple usable for longer by giving him a more robust movepool. You could either hold onto him to level 26, all the way to Fallarbor Town to get Poison Tail, or evolve him at level 10 into Cascoon or Silcoon and see what they'd give you. You could wind up with a Beautifly with Poison Tail, Wrap, Iron Defense, and Giga Drain.

Wurmple's my favorite Pokemon.

Wurmple's also a huge go-to for me, I get one every file I can. It helps that Beedrill is consistently one of the most usable henchmons out there, he's usable the entire game with Endeavor.

Technically, my favorite 1st stage is Mudkip, but honestly the entire Mudkip line is my favorite in the series.
However there are some few cases when I love the first stage but I dislike its evo. I think my biggest example is Chingling and Chimecho.
I love Chingling so much, it's so cute. But I really don't like Chimecho. I really hope that Chingling eventually gets a new evo with a design that is closer to Chingling's.
