The fact you can freely bring in any Mega with no drawback is OP itself. It means you will always have 2 chances to chip at 1 Mega and essentially win. In normal TCG you need 6 points to win so no drawback is fair, but if this card were to come to pocket I can see it being nerfed to maybe the Mega has to be damaged in order you can bring it to the active spot which then allows you to not waste a trainer support slot like Cyrus but instead Red to deal 20 extra damage on turns you bring the Mega in the active to deal massive damage.

The shiny system isn't a bad idea, just poorly executed and makes players feel punished for opening a pack with a shiny instead of making them feel like they hit the bonus spin on a slot machine; which is what I expect the intent was supposed to be. I don't think anyone would be mad about them if they were just extra, especially if they're a way to reprint old cards people may have missed while giving them a fresh coat of paint (or a shit coat of paint since it's 3D sloop but whatever).

anyone else stuck getting just absolute dogshit packs the last few days? I swear it picks a few cards out of every set to just never give me, not a single onix (one diamond) but it's happy to give me 10 snubbull, 10 eevee, 9 hitmontop, 8 munna, 8 slowpoke, 8 flaaffy, and 8 furret so far. I wish there was something I could do with all these dupes of worthless cards piling up like send them to the woodchipper for shinedust or something. Pack points (even just a pittance's worth, like 5 cards for one point or so) is probably too much to ask for.

How do you know if you're actually getting good at this game or if your deck is actually worthwhile. outside of just copy pasting a meta deck from somewhere. I feel like I'm beginning understanding more of this game but it just seems so many factors that screw you over that has nothing to do with your actual skill.

It's kind of hard to say honestly. I used to always recommend the latest entries because they have the most updated mechanics and quality of life. But scarelt/violet were so fucking lazy/glitchy/and has you running around a very poorly created open world. Like a 13 year old making a steam early access open world game would create a better map.

ORAS casualized the fuck out of the originals, and the production values are fucking embarrassing. But if you just want a quick casual run through maybe it can be tolerable?

You said it yourself. We have a good amount of utility now to combat bricking, and you're never not going to be at a roulette with a well optimized deck regardless. But, you shouldn't be getting miserably stomped with a good deck so often unless your opponent visibly had a near perfect early shuffle and yours was closer to as bad as it could've went. It's only 20 cards and people barely ever get creative so that's pretty easy to tell when it happens when you learn the game. As a rule of thumb for me if you're barely breaking even in beginner queue, your decks structure is really bad. It's at least got some legs if you're breaking about even in the veteran queue or a little better. If it's *really* good, we would probably have figured it out already and it'd be on one of the websites. But only probably.

There's a lot of fusion decks right now actually, with all the energy shifting utility in the new expansion. Those decks only consist mostly of the usual menaces like zeraora giratina greninja and sylveon. If a card needs more than just one of any specific energy and they don't have a reliable way of getting it otherwise then forget about it. It's very strict but there's definitely wiggle room for creativity. Especially just only pretty decent decks.
