maybe you forgot, but card games are not suppose to be super expensive while they are in print. from my experience, and this is true about every card game is that product gets released, it slightly goes up in value on the super rare and super playable cards. but after the cards get rotated out and newer sets get released for people to get distracted by, cards will tank in value. this usually happend 6 monthts to 1.5 years after a set release. but it does and is normal to happen. this is prime time to buy the dip. after this initial dip, the likilhood of cards falling below this mark is almost impossible. but from there you should see organic growth as cards get scarce due to people damaging them or selling them off.
at that point, then and only then when the dust truly settles will you know how rare and valuable a card is. there have been mass produced cards that everyone gets, then no one cares about them, and poof now they are just as rare as an alt art.
this is an X factor that no one can predict, but what seasoned collectors know about.
card collecting as a hobby WILL ALWAYS HAVE MONEY IN IT. but the problem with people wanting to collect now, they lack the patience to see growth. it takes years and years and years, and we talked about that X factor where you will have cards you never thought would go for more than 300 all of a sudden go for over 1k. i dont disagree with cards appreciating in value naturally. because it is a natural process. i just dont care for this "pay 3x price for boosters and spend thousands instead of hundreds on PSA slabs".
the market never settled, everything is overpriced, and speculative value. we KNOW that X factor exists on what will be actually worth it in the long run. but it aint even been the long run and people speculate thousands.
Its stupid to participate in the current market. thats why im just holding what i got. why even flinch at a box 2x MSRP instead of 3? i have a fuck ton of product.

in fact i have seen people get disapointed when they collect other TCG's because they buy boosters and open product and they check the pricing then a year later everything they got tanks in value.
are you ready for that shit? because i am, because thats how the market really behaves. a lot of these people have been spoiled with instant profit gains on newer product that they wouldnt even know how to act in a normal TCG market.
i have seen it time and time again with various TCG's i have collected. the dip is so predictable. i have a TCG that is dipping now, which is kind of a disappointment. but its totally normal. people think they buy 1 card and it will slowly creep to 10k no issue are stupid and dont know the market quite as much as they would like to admit.
infact the only TCG that behaves this way is Pokemon and maybe MTG. everything else follows this common trend.

nah, i have alreayd seen it happen. for example a big chase card in the set "Battle Styles" was the VMAX Urshifu. I have been watching this card for years now, since its initial release to now. its been 4 years. i can remember the pricing. in 2021, it was a very hyped card, the price for a raw copy first week was $175. it slowly crept up in value going to 220 for a raw copy and around 300 dollars for a PSA 10 graded copy
NOW 4 years later, you can get a PSA 10 graded copy for the price of a raw copy in 2021.
you can also now get a raw copy of the card for 70 bucks. this is STILL too high of a value IMO. and should have been the pricing in a normal market cycle. the market cycle did get delayed and older sets of the SWSH era have dipped retrospectivly and lost value. whats going to happen when newer and newer chase cards get released and people get tired of having a listing on ebay sit there for 200 dollars and the card not moving? sell it for 150? tank the price to put money into another chase card?
thats how its happening. thats whats been happening. this card has been about 175-200 for the past year in a PSA with the listings getting dusty. people thought this card was SO WORTH IT. and MUH ARTWORK. but even now its showing its cracks and the cards value has and probably will continue to get weaker and weaker.

if the market was playing like people pretend it is, that VMAX Urshifu should be 1000 bucks. but its not appreciating right now, its declining.
