Everyone always feels that way about BW when they see the numbers. They're everyone's darling now but it legitimately was a low point for the series financially.

No, it just released so late in the DS's life that nobody cared anymore about DS games any more. It released three weeks before the 3DS in the US, and then B2W2 released a year and a half later ALSO ON THE DS.

Pokemon Sun and Moon were a similar deal, since they released only 5 months before the Switch came out.

why do blind fanboys try to gaslight into saying, oh you just grew up, oh it's just not for you. they are fundamentally extremely different products from what they used to put out. in a hypothetical scenario where they continued to release games at the level of any of the 2d entries I would still be engaged. even gen 6 or 7 were flawed but better than what they're releasing now. they are doubling down on all the worst aspects and being overly ambitious when they never even learned how to make a 3D game following the format they stuck to for years. why is trying to make some open world procedural mmo bullshit that won't pan out to even a 10th of their claims a me problem?

I can't speak for anyone else, I never claimed they were a failing company. They're a mismanaged incompetent company and the brand is so strong and carried on legacy that they can coast like this for years. People have an emotional attachment to the designs and so they'll ignore the flaws because the core concept is fun and even if its mangled and distorted if there's a shred of that identity left they can still enjoy parts of it
