What bothers me about this is that it doesn't actually show Zelda on PS1 as a proof of concept. It's just Zelda assets slapped on an engine that, while very good looking in its own right, doesn't achieve what OoT or MM were known for, e.g. large scale environments with lots of moving scenery and dynamic effects. You could swap out all of the assets here for something like Medievil and nobody would think "Wow, this proves the PS1 could run OoT!". It's nifty, but I'd be impressed by Link wandering around Hyrule Field killing stalkids while the night turns to day, water rushes along the moat, torches burn outside the gates and Navi lights up the scenery; not by a small environment with static geometry, unresponsive enemies and purple fog. Whoever made this clearly wants you to think, "See, the PS1 can run OoT because there's Link and rupees", meanwhile neglecting to demonstrate any of the N64 games' technical strengths. The whole thing just feels kind of dirty and intentionally misleading.

Gen 5 the PS1 intro was so memorable to me, but Gen 6 the PS2 intro is by far the most lame looking and least memorable.

Also a shame that the Xbox intro was supposed to have customizable/controllable a little when you press buttons on the controller during it. IIRC the code is still there but they blocked the code from reading controller inputs.
>In late development, the bootlogo would respond to button inputs of A, B, X, Y, Black, White, or the Left Stick. Players were able to control animation speed, fog, the presence of shadows, camera position, intensity of the "flubber" energy, and shields. In the final build of the kernel, the library for handling controller input is not loaded on boot, so this code is unused.

Also, beta versions of that intro had shields spinning around the flubber.

DD2 actually. The playstation version is the best version. Rocking OST as well.

Fun fact: The OST for the game is an actual album done by a local thrash metal band just for the game so a few of the songs have vocal versions.

The idiots putting everything on Discord are the problem. Discord is not meant to be a file server, stop treating it like one. Half the time I go there only to find that it's just a mega link anyway because the file is too big to be hosted on Discord. I have zero interest in joining your group, I have zero interest in chatting with your team or random friends, I sure as fuck have zero interest in creating an account that requires me to link a phone number to it, I just want to play the romhack.

Nobody wants to join your Discord, the fact that you try to force them speaks volumes about how you can't even manage to find friends online yourself and have to try to lure them in like a trap.

>DD2 actually.
Yeah, I think that's the one I had. That game was fun. I've been trying to find something comparable to it ever since. It was so fun just destroying other players (well NPCs). I liked that actual Destruction Derby mode in that .webm the best. Just driving right to the center of the circle and smashing into them was fun.
For a tip: my friends and I recently downloaded this newer game unrelated to /vr/, but it's called Wreckfest and it kind of has the same vibes. Your vehicle gets damaged and eventually you get "wrecked" if you take too much damage. That's about as close as I've gotten to the Destruction Derby vibe from when I was a kid. I'd recommend it if you miss that type of destruction racing game. They're coming out with a second game here soon so the first one is usually on sale every once in a while on Steam.
All right sorry. Not trying to shill. I'll stop. But yeah, I had a good time trying to get back that nostalgia.

Oh nice. Yeah, the reason my friends and I agreed to buy the first one and race is because it was cheaper and we just wanted to race together. I'm also kinda waiting to see how Wreckfest 2 pans out before considering it. I didn't need the latest and greatest, just something to get the vibes back.
I will say that I'm not the biggest fan of Wreckfest 1's soundtrack compared to DD. It's a weird mix of Euro rock or something. Should have gone with a more hardcore approach like DD.

>Join Ogre Battle Discord because that's whats linked to get access to the romhack some guy is working on
>Get inside, there's no link to be found anywhere
>Apparently the romhack hasn't even released yet

>Join Breath of Fire discord for romhack

>Just a lot of waifu fagging between Katt and Nina with a smidgen of game discussion

>Join Metroid discord
>It's not actually a romhack of the original game, it's a standalone program that is just a reimplementation of the original game in a custom engine

I've been burned so many times by discord groups I don't even bother with the links anymore. People advertising anything there is just a mirage, a smokescreen that wastes your time. Put your hack progress on a website for the public or don't bother.

It's a bad analysis. What OoT was known for... was z-lock and fighting and doing dungeons. Does the other shit exist? Yes. But you could do a zelda fine with them. Arguably you could do an OoT remix better even without them as well since OoT was a weak entry and garners most of it's praise simply for bringing Zelda to 3D.... and that's kind of the point. Any Zelda in 3D done sufficiently well would have worked. It doesn't have to mirror the N64 exactly. it just needs to be a viable zelda game.
That being said. Kingsley's Adventure is kind of an attempt at something like that. It's by no means flawless... but it shows that a zelda game could be done on the playstation.

I doubt MM could run on the ps1, the game needed the extra ram to run on the n64, the ps1 having a quarter would not work.

There's lots of stories around the world many from old times of not bass but catfish eating little kids whole.
Catfish can get huge especially before they were fished so much and would often get gigantic so it's probably true that it would happen on occasion.

Uh oh, discordfag got butthurt. Making people join your discord so you can have a big community is pathetic.
It's reasonable to have troubleshooting in it or related things but if someone just wants to play a game, you are cancer and I hope people avoid your ass like you rightfully deserve.

Why would they remove that? Did it cause some kind of problem?

Who knows. Maybe it did cause problems, maybe they didn't have time to fully develop/test it, maybe some marketing yahoo thought it would weaken the brand or something if people could fuck with the logo, or maybe they just felt it didn't look good in practice.
